I've been following your project for a while, as your building is really, very nice, and your scripter is a friend of mine. I was looking forward to playing, but I think I'll wait now until alpha is over - I'm really not fond of losing XP and having to farm it over again.

You done an amazing work. :)

I traveled a lot with all the pictures of your world and I wish to see more in the future.

Thank you both, unfortunately I have some bad news.

My scripter has gone inactive, and I am once again alone in the project. I can not continue on my own, and have decided to go with some alternatives...

• If a scripter suddenly appears and wants to cooperate with me, let me know.

• I might give away all the areas and everything I have made.

• Merge my work with an exisiting module

• Just flush it...

This is what I have

• 90 high quality areas including the city of Hill's Edge, connected to Corm Orp to the east and the Reaching Woods at the south.

• 6 Dungeons ranging from level 2 to level 6. Fully populated with respawning monsters.

• NESS (Neshkes Extenable Spawn System). Fully integrated and works like a charm

• AWW (Advance Walk Waypoints). Makes the NPCs come alive and makes the city a sprawling place.

• Lots of features as placeables, creatures, heads, cloaks, robes, etc. Handpicked over the years and integrated in the module.

• Some minor scripts, carefully placed around the module to enhance it.

• Tailor lobby Area and Login Area.

• Integrated SimTools with working chatcommands, connected to custom skills and custom emotes.

• A handmade map picturing the areas on the server.

If you want to be a scripter, you'll be able to put your mark on the module. Only requirement I have is that you don't sway too much away from my initial vision of the server - a Low Magic, 1-20 PW set in the Forgotten Realms, emphasized on immersion, feeling and High quality content.

What exactly are you needing scripted in general?

I need a scripter who can setup the main systems on a Persistent World and who knows what he's doing. :)

• Death- & Respawn system (with bleeding)

• Experience system (Now I already have this, but it might need maintainance)

• Database setup (NWNX, Simtools, Persistancy).

• Loot (I also have this already, but it might need some adjustment).

• Additional minor scripts per request.

Keep in mind, it's an opportunity to implement your own touch on a persistent world. I also have some finished scripts already, but either using them or working out new ones is fine by me.

I also request solid and flexible scripts, as they should endure through alpha and beta! :)

I really hope you find others of a like mind to team up with. Failing that, I hope you find an alternate way to have your content used and enjoyed. Flushing must be a last resort!

*keeps fingers crossed*

Those I could handle easily.

• Database setup (NWNX, Simtools, Persistancy).

- I've never used NWN databases or NWNX (though I doubt the database part would be that difficult to learn)

- I've never used Simtools

- Not sure what you mean by persistency in this case -- if you simply mean like saving your location then that's simple to do in any number of ways (and the PC having a permanent item to store information on is the simple method I'm used to using)

All that said, during my "game time" I already run a guild in WoW, have several NWN projects going, and play with friends on other games.  So while I'd be willing to help, I doubt I could spare more than 2-3ish hours a week on average in a consistent manner.

If that interests you, we can talk -- but I can't dedicate 10+ hours a week to the project or something.

Edit: And I'm mainly offering because some of those areas look amazing.  I'm extremely good at mechanical modifications from classes to spells to items and beyond, particularly in regard to game balance...but I'm not very good at the visual/sound/atmospheric stuff.  So I'd like to see this project continue.

Your work is amazing and I'll be very sad if you'll stop now, then, maybe, this solution is possible if you don't find a scripter, but please, don't abandon your module ! :)

My server is a part of another server and I'm sure you could have the possibility to have your own world there.

If you are interested, tell me, please.

That's it, I'm done. I recently got two people who wanted to help, but it didn't last long, so I will abandon this project. I do not have the energy to try and motivate people.

If anyone wants to continue, I'll gladly give away the module, just send me a PM. Though, keep in mind, I will not give it away to anyone. I want to be sure it's in good hands.

I am sure this could have been a really good persistant world and I would like to thank everyone for the interest.

I can't speak for the others, but here's my perspective:

1, I'm still willing to help script what you need done

2, our ideal worlds are very, very different.  That's fine, I don't have to like what you like in order to help.  But even how we envision a low magic world is very, very different.  Again, that's fine, I don't have to share your vision to help.  But how we perceive RP is also very, very different.  To repeat myself a third time, that's fine, don't have to agree to help.  But it does mean that I'm pretty useless outside of just scripting the stuff you need done.

To give a concrete example, consider the Flame Arrow versus Fireball example.  I mentioned my general idea that I thought Flame Arrow should be better against 1-2 targets and Fireball better against 3+.  You seemed to like the general idea.  But then you thought Flame Arrow did way too much damage when I showed what it would have to do in order to make those statements true and wanted to bring it down to the point where Fireball was better against two targets.

And then Cannonade still objected even to that lowered damage.  Which brings us to...

3, I'm tired of arguing with Cannonade and Mystery Clock.  If you want me to balance spells for a low magic world, I could do that.  If you and I agree on how spells should work and want me to convince those two of our position, I could do that.   If those two and I agree on how spells should work and we needed to convince you or our position, I could do that.  But it felt like you three had much more of a common vision for how you wanted things to work.  My principle is Gameplay > Story.  If something's bad gameplay, it doesn't matter if it makes sense story-wise, it should be changed.  You three seem to be Story > Gameplay where you want things to make as much "sense" as possible even if it's bad gameplay.  I put "sense" in quotes because of the whole suspension of disbelief for everything from miraculous healing to surviving a fireball to the face.  And I'm still willing to help you...but at that point I don't have anything to offer beyond technical skills.

4, I wrote the resting scripts you wanted.  I was waiting on the details for the oxygen system you wanted.  I was waiting for the details on what you wanted added to SimTools or whatever.  I gave up on the spells and was waiting to hear what you wanted done with them.

So I'm sorry to hear you're potentially giving up on the project.  I'm still willing to help script what you need scripted, but otherwise it's clear our view of how things should work (even within the context of "low magic RP focused world") is extremely different so I don't really have anything to offer beyond scripting.  And if you need more than just a scripter then that's outside my purview.

I'm sad to hear that you want to give up. This PW was the most promising I've ever seen.

You have my sympathy. I've tried motivating groups of people to work together before. It's much like herding cats, and it takes a measurable toll. =/

That's sad...maybe you can pick up again when you have free time...the areas look so awesome...

I'm a noob myself, that's why I haven't offered any help.

I might give this one more shot... I don't know. I have already started to clean up the module. Started a new ProjectQ and imported all my stuff to PQ. Module didn't start after that. So... I imported area after area until I discovered some broken areas. No clue what the cause is, but that's Life. Two bound index 0 and two access violations. :D

Still - I would need a scripter, Young, old, new, experienced. Maybe you already run your PW and wants to try something new. I would give you a totally clean (scriptwise) module with 130 areas, lots of high quality haks and tons of ideas. And I would give you the best quality Machine-Gun Area builder around - me! ;)

What needs to be done... well, nothing special, only...

• Experience system

• Bleed/Death system

• Chat commands (might use simtools)

• Loot system

• Balancing

• Spawn system (might use ness)

Then all my minor requests aswell.

Many systems already exist on the nwvault, so the work could be easier and I would need the help to implement those scripts into the module.

Piece of cake, huh? :D

If you don't have the desire to learn the scripting on your own and put together the systems that make a PW function the way you want, then it seems like you're going about this project backward. Maybe instead find an existing PW that functions with some/most of what you like to see in a PW, then approach the people who run it to see if they have any interest to including your areas and the necessary haks in their PW in exchange for 130 areas and the best machine-gun quality area builder around?

Maybe you'd even be able to work out some method (a portal to an alternate plane or section of the existing world) that leads to your realm of areas or something of that nature.

Maybe.

I can only agree with Thayan on that one. If you love to build - what you obvious do... Maybe think more like a builder instead of a world creator. Basically as a builder you can create areas, stories, plots, quests, secrets.... heck imagination is the limit. Likely the only real adaption you will have to do on your behalf is making sure the opponents and potential fat lewt is in line with the given server...

By integrating yourself into an existing project you will add fresh blood and energy to an existing world, your art and creation will likely have far better chance of being enjoyed by players and you will have a heck of a lot less risk of stopping once again due to lack of scripters...

Besides that i was in sneak-peaking on your creations/areas and lots of it was really sweet :)

Best of luck with however you choose to create in NWN :)

Yeah, maybe, but it's not about not wanting to learn the scripting on my own. It's about find the TIME to learn to do the scripting on my own, and building, and writing conversations, and balancing, DMing, looking and solving bugs, keep a community, admin a forum, answer PMs... I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

Also, we began as a team with a scripter and a builder, but the scripter pulled the plug. He was recently involved in a server with big drama that went down the drain, so he was already tired of NWN when we started.

Also, it's not that simple to include my areas. Trust me, I've been over that part aswell. Few people use Project Q as a base. They usually use CEP. Also, I have tons of placeables gathered over the last five years in my custom haks. I Think I have added over 2500 placeables in addition to the Project Q placeables. And I use them alot in the areas. If I want to merge my areas with another module, it would be very hard to merge the 2DA.

And the last method could work. Been thinking About that aswell, but that would certainly lead to several gigabytes of HAKs. :)

I hope you don't consider a compromise here. I'd hate to see your excellent work spoiled by low quality CEP stuff.
I think what distinguishes a good builder from a bad one is the willingness to do the extra work of looking for high quality content and assemble it instead of using some readily made compilations that didn't exactly age gracefully.
I'm not saying it is impossible to build good areas with CEP stuff, but it is very likely that builders who don't bother looking for better content also don't bother to add that extra effort and add atmosphere with sounds and lighting, well done text messages and all the other tricks of building a special area and not just something made from the same mould as countless others before.

Zwerkules: You nailed my thoughts here! As I said, I don't know a single module that use Project Q as a base, and I want to keep the high quality that comes with Q and your work zwerk. CEP have lots of good stuff, but it also have lots of bad, outdated stuff.

Nevertheless, only today I've got some interested offers. :)

Only because CEP has been around alot longer and most PWs with a sizable player base aren't exactly new.  Starting a fresh project now I'd choose Q every time as it's a vastly superior collection of haks.
