A resurrection indeed!

Hill's Edge is growing, and Henesua has offered to help me with the major scripts and to implement NWNX on a nwn-dedicated server I will host. I will soon present some of the features we are working on and have changed since I began with this project.

I am adding areas each and every second day and I have the fortune to use the latest content from Project Q, Zwerkules among others.

Some people have offered to help and more are welcome to contribute if you would like to build, create monsters or write stories for Hill's Edge.

:)

Don't let this project fall by the wayside again. Was excited about it 3 years ago and happy to see it might see the light of day. So to repeat what I said 3 years ago on page 1..

Put it up, people will come. !  You'll never be done..... this is a never-ending hobby.

We are working hard at the moment! I have expanded the module with several areas, and we have cleaned up the module and implemented lots of features already, and we are already working on new features.

For Hill's Edge only, I have retextured the Dwarven Halls Tileset along with several placeables to build the Netheril Ruins.

As it stands now, Hill's Edge will offer you total functional and working...

• Custom skills including movement skills with animations [Jumping, climbing, swimming]

• Custom familiar and a system for binding new familiars to the PC.

• Doors that can only be harmed by different weapons [Stone door can't be damaged by piercing weapons but with blunt weapons].

• A very light Hunger/Thirst system that won't annoy the player but act more as a small modifier when resting.

• Campfires that allows resting, bedrolls.

• Custom spells such as Waterbreathing, teleport and Comprehend Language

• Custom experience system including experience for exploration and skill-use

• Food, Drinks, Alcohol

And some of the work in progress...

• Prestige classes; Joydancer of Llira, Strifeleader of Cyric.

• Resources for mining and harvesting.

• Bleed/Death/Respawn

We have also included a new and very experienced NWN veteran that will help us!

Oh, and if you are a good builder and want to help, don't hesitate!

Some screenshots!

I love the retextured tileset/area, very nice work.

I'm a fan of ruins and a really BIG fan of overgrown ruins

I would love to make a NWN world where tribal people are living among overgrown ruins from fallen empires of the past.

I just ran across this video today and I was like this is a lot like the kind of world I would love to make using NWN.

I would be going for a post apocalyptic Forgotten Realms. So ruins tilesets would really be needed for some thing like this.

Whenever I see the works of good builders, I kind of want to club them over the head and run away with their modules so that I can learn how they do things by taking them apart instead of looking wistfully at screenshots... hehe.

You can help me build on Hill's Edge if you want? I think the biggest challenge when building is to capture a feeling and to make it appear realistic. I think anyone can be a good builder, but it's important to know that it takes a LOT of time. Only the kitchen area above took me two or three hours effective time. :)

What is that in the last pic? Looks like a skellie taking a step off the edge..

Looks like a jump system! And being a sad little apprentice builder would be great experience, I think - I only worry that my schedule would leave me unable to be of good use...

It's a jump system, but I fear the gap is too large for poor Rebecka Stormcast! :)

Your kitchen is wonderful ! I wish I could use 2 or 3 hours building with such a result... Luckily, the mere building act is satisfying in itself whatever the result :-) Agree with your build philosophy. Capture a feeling and make it coherent / realistic is key.

I'd like to get involved.

I am just returning to NWN. I was on a couple of development teams years ago. I am moderately good with the toolset.

I have good programming skills as well & could probably figure out most of the NWN scripting features.

The project looks great!

:)

Soon, we will enter a new phase of Hill's Edge! We have a dedicated server on Vultr and that means we're going into pre-alpha. We will test our systems and work on some different things.

This is what we have finished lately:

• Lots of new areas

• Lots of new items. Added 96 custom rings among other content.

• Brand new loot system

• Reworking armor parts [And that is a pain!]

• Lots of new NPCs

• Reskinned and remodel of tileset

Factions, a new Fame & Reputation system, conversations and lore are in the pipeline!

We have a forum up and running

We are currently looking for an additional team member(s)! We are especially in need of someone who can create areas, conversations, items or stories and lore!

If you are interested, send me a PM or add me on skype: tobias.tranell

By the courtesy of T0r0, we have a smaller gap in this heavy modified tileset. Small chunks of rock fall down and disappear into the darkness when you get close to the edge...

Well done T0r0! :)

I had no idea that Neverwinter Nights was still being played and developed (albeit privately)!  I actually came to this page researching Hill's Edge for the pen and paper campaign I'm running.

I'm very well versed in the Realms and story creation (DM of nearly 35 years!), but I barely know anything about NWN.  I'll try to find my old copy and get it installed.  Once I'm back up to speed a little maybe I can actually contribute.

Bravo for all the work I've seen so far.  I very much appreciate someone who genuinely cares for the lore!

Kudos and I hope to get back to you soon.

Hey Craftnburn!

Then you are perfectly aware that Hill's Edge is an awesome place for adventure. I was thrilled by the possibilities of this city and decided to use it as a base for my PW. :)

Looking forward to see you contribute!

Hello. Regarding the server, do you have a forum? There used to be one, but I lost the bookmark due to forced reinstallation of OS.

We have a forum, but it's not official yet. :)

Good news - the server is online and running. So far it's only for the developers, but this means we are able to try out our systems and make modifications to them. We consider this a pre-alpha! :)
