I doubt the next PC will be from another species, unless they introduce race options in the IP.

Turian main character would be nice.

But no Saren, please.

This or bust I'd say as well as far as the PC being anything but a human is concerned.

And among those options I'd like to see batarians quite a bit.

So I can play with a stick up my ass?

Or a Garrus ripoff, who pulled the stick out of his ass?

How about the next Protag is from one of the many species who inhabit the ME Galaxy?

I mean sure if you want you can play as a boring old Human, but there are Turians, Quarians, Asari, Krogan, Salarian, Drell and several others to choose from.

All I ask of Bioware is to be given that choice.

Not everybody thinks human characters or protagonists are boring.

The obvious solution would be to let us choose the protagonist race (not every race ofc...but the ones in which speech patterns are not an issue)

The obvious solution is to wait and see how well DA:I handles different races. If it works, then implement a like system for ME4. Four or five races including human. However, if such a system were designed, BW would likely stick w/ the Council races, which is a pity as looking at ME through the eyes of a Batarian, Geth or a Krogan would be interesting. Certainly they will have the races in MP, but a krogan swinging a giant hammer doesn't lend itself to much character development, no matter how much fun it is.

NextME should have both a Turian, Asari, Krogan, Salarian and Human protagonist IMO.

Well technically couldnt Human's, Asari, Turians, Quarians and Drell all use the same voice?, They could just add a race specific sound filter over the dialogue.

No, that voice filter would get annoying if you had to listen to it say "I should go" for dozens of hours.

they are never going to make a game with an exclusively alien protagonist.

even with the additional options I'd probably still play human almost exclusively, maybe salarian or krogan

The pre-human era(s) are so canonically important and ripe for potential that some parts of it will invariably have to be explored someday as ideas run dry. General audiences certainly aren't ready yet for alien protagonists though and neither are publishers: especially in an era where it's still considered edgy to put a female protagonist on her own box-art.

[Aside from the possibility of spin-offs titles with fan-favs like Garrus already adored by millions] I imagine after a couple more games centred around human affairs such as the first contact war, colonization and the skyllian blitz; a different perspective will be necessary in order to keep the franchise fresh.

By that time we can only hope that wider audiences will be familiar enough with the franchise / multiplayer will grow and popularize these races amongst gamers to the extent that BioWare and EA will feel comfortable with the idea of moving on to the more ambitious parts of the canon which are decidedly alien, e.g.

1) The rise and fall of the Leviathans
2) The Prothean era
3) The Rachni Wars and the rise of the Krogan Empire
4) The first Turian spectre during the Krogan Rebellions
5) The Morning War from the perspectives of the Geth and Quarian sympathisers

Not going to happen. The scripts would be vastly more complicated. The acting costs would be dramatically increased. Overall, the production costs involved in having an option to pick another race would preclude this possibility.

Choose your species I would go for because it allows for so many options so long as BW keeps in mind what species hero you are because some cultural things could be added for humor like if I'm a Turian I can intimidate other turians using my sub-vocals but I can't do this with any other hero combo. My top species choices Human, Turian, Quarian (helmetless) I want to design them all and for Quarians have the option of no horrid face tattoos cuz I think you gave Tali tattoos that look like crayon or something so I'd like the plain face option for tattoos.

They won't remove being Human for according to the numbers they have from Dragon Age: Origins that was what the majority of the people played even when having the option. The problem I see is where do they draw the line for what races to choose, right now there are only four races in Dragon Age: Inquisition and they are mostly similar, but with Mass Effect there are more and the body types are vastly different. For something like multiplayer when they just need to move and such the NPC models will work fine, but when it comes to cinematic moments they would all have to be animated individually otherwise there would be a lot of clipping between the character models and the environment.

Inquisition has multiple species and apparently also voice acting. All you really need to do is apply a voice filter, increase/decrease pitch and that's it. Of course it would be expensive and take up more space and it remains to be seen how Inquisition handles it.  But it can be done.

They are just never removing the possibility of not being a human because humans are more marketable than an alien

Yes, yes it should!! A Turian protagonist would be fantastic imo, but with any luck we'll have a choice of various races to choose from.

Turian OPTION, OP. I don't really want to play as one :). Maybe a female turian. Maybe.

My ideal situation would be:

-Human Male
-Human Female
-Turian Male
-Turian Female
-Salarian Male (females too exclusive imo)
-Asari 'Female' (duh)

-At least one new species, newcomer
-At least one other, existing or new

And I wouldn't mind DLC adding the following, honestly (yeah yeah, I'd prefer it in-game, but just saying):

-Quarian Male
-Quarian Female
-Krogan Male
-Krogan Female
-Geth Platform
-maybe Drell Male (these are unlikely but I wouldn't mind)
-maybe Drell Female

~~~
To compare, DA:I seems to have (because they are taking the time for it):
-Human Male
-Human Female
-Elf Male
-Elf Female
-Dwarf Male
-Dwarf Female
-Qunari Male
-Qunari Female
~~~

My top choices would be:
-Geth Platform (ooo so unique, even though they've been 'humanized' with the upgrades.. bleh)
-Human Male
-Asari 'Female'
-Quarian Male

I'd experiment with others but these would be my first playthroughs. So yeah, hell yes I'd buy DLC to add more than 6 choices. My MainShep had the Genophage cured and Rannoch peace so bring it on.
