Maybe as an option, but I would find being confined to a turian protagonist rather awful. Character creation might as well not exist, and we'd just be playing someone butting against the rigid meritocracy, which is Garrus 2.0. Anyway, the primary interest in the story for me is encountering the other races, their varying personalities and learning about their culture. Nothing meaningful is gained being that race to do the same exact thing. There's no reason why being a human is boring if the setting is interesting.

they are never going to make a game with an exclusively alien protagonist.

Even if they had several other species, I'd still play exclusively as a human.

Maybe have an origins story, and the OPTION to play as a Turian..

But I for one love playing Humans, it gives me great pleasure.

I doubt the Next ME will go the alien main character route. my only hope it that the main character isn't another bland prototypical solider

What do you think a half human half turian would look like?

Lore-wise it is irrelevant, since Humans and Turians can't mix...

Then again, if such mix could be feasible (synthesis ending, maybe?), then I would go for giving turian looks iincluding 3 talon fingers at members (feet and hands), but human body shape, so no wasp waist anymore.

But that is just me picturing it, surely there are some fanarts out there depicting such a Hu-rian(?)/Tur-man(?)

Unless there is a choice of different races it has to be human. From a business viewpoint they need a character that most people can relate to and not all Mass Effect fans think any one race is the best so no way to choose which one you would play as. I personally would love to play as a Krogan or Asari.

Protanogist would need to be at least humanoid for wide group of people, but does not really need to be a human IMO.

No, there really does need to be a human choice or they alienate a huge market segment outright.

However, I would be quite happily surprised to see them have a 'more canon' Turian protagonist but allow a Human 'alternate choice' for once ;). That'd be neat.

EA would still plaster the human on as many trailers as they can get away with though.

EA likes it or not, but a fully fleshed ME game with a Turian as a main protagonist would be an insta buy for me.

Really, it needs to be, for one simple reason: It's the one and only truly neutral option. Each and every alien race in Mass Effect has its own solid hate base to some degree. The humans are the only ones that don't. The goofy misanthropic lot don't really count.

Wouldn't mind if that happened, but no chance in hell it does. Best we can hope for is selectable races, much like Dragon Age Origins and Inquisition. I'd say human male and female, turian male and female, asari, salarian male. Also they use a voice program to change the races voices. So two leads still works, much like Hale and Meer.

It should have the option to pick your race like most RPG games. A little pitch and voice filter is all that's needed for all but two or three races. Exclude those. Or make up new races that don't need the voice modulation. I just want the option not to be human anymore

Seriously, applying a voice filter will just make every other race human with alien skins - and if all you want is a different model, well, I'm sure the fanbase will create mods for that. Different races must have unique dialogs and quest options and not just sound differently, and that's obviously too costly.
