Commander Shepard's story is, far and away, the most wrenching game I've ever experienced. In some ways, it's the most important story I've read or played or watched. What that says about my repertoire of literary savoir-faire, I don't know. However, with the lack of current backwards compatibility and Microsoft's current uncertainty, I am left with the painful realization that I may never, ever play Mass Effect again.
I could keep the XBox 360, but my beloved wife, God love her, has made it clear that it's kind of silly to do so, especially if it's just (in her words) "for one game." I've acquiesced and agreed to part with the 360, but it's difficult. Compounding said difficulty is the fact that I own the collector's editions, which I cherish. The only games I've ever purchased and not sold at some point.
How do you let go of such a legendary piece of fiction? And, postulating strictly for the sake of my own tender heart, I would love to see it, and would lap it up in a hurry at the right price. Otherwise, I don't know. Maybe it's for the best. Maybe the brevity of it all is what makes it so special.

There's this nasty feeling I've had ever since getting my XBox One. What do I do now?

- Import bugs
- Character designer compatibility between games
- ME3 journal
- <that other thing we were just talking about the other day>
As much as I might like to see it, it's too much to hope for. An astounding 'Mass Effect Next' that's the killer app for the next gen consoles (Mass Effect was the killer app for my 360 purchase, years after it was launched) is what we should be looking for.

The two things extra I'd like is a seamless transition between games and ME3's character creator being moved to ME1 to reduce the changes in appearance between games.

The problem I see is that the mechanics behind the character generation is completely different and I think the models for the characters are also different so carrying the character forward even if the character generation is the same it won't carry forward properly.

I've got it on PC too, but my laptop's developed an irritating random freezing issue.

It's that much of a surefire winner.
Hyperbole aside, I reckon it would meet its kickstart goal within the first hour of being up. Guaranteed. Make it happen EA.
