Does the DLC's tie-in with the original prog (Dragon Age - Origins)?  More specifically I noticed that (at least to two that I downloaded) Leliana's Song and The Golems of Amgarrak has to be played as a New Game.  Will anything be carried to or from?

There are three types of DLC for Origins. First, there are in-game DLCs, such as Stone Prisoner, that appear as quests within the main game. Then there are two standalone DLCs: Leliana's Song and Darkspawn Chronicles. The first takes place before the main game, and tells Leliana's story. The second features an alternate ending. They are played separately, but you do get bonus items that can be used in the main game. Third, there are three sequel DLCs: Dragon Age: Awakening, Golems of Amgarrak and Witch Hunt. They take place after the main game, and you can import your Origins character through those (you need to import and play them in the order listed above). Awakening also raises the level cap from 25 to 35, and gives you new talents.

Note that your storage chest contents will not import into Awakening, however, money will. So take the items you want to keep to your inventory and sell the rest before making an import save. Only one of your DAO party members will return and even he loses equipped items, so sell your companions items as well. Also note that most DLC items will NOT import.

Thanks Caradoc, your responses,as always, have been extremely helpful. I appreciate it. I am having a blast with this. I should have discovered this sooner. And I applaud BioWare for doing a bang-up job on this as well as (off-topic) Mass Effect. They have restored a little faith in EA for me.

Caradoc, and Et al, thanks for getting me through my darkest(spawn) hours, it has been a blast!  I really enjoyed Leliana's Song.  Got to know her a lot better.  One quick note about that.  None of here stuff came over to me.

Speaking of stuff.  I am about to embark on The Awakening.  Is it my understanding that anything that I want to keep, I should leave it in my inventory?  Does that include all of the sovereign?

Yep, if it's not on your character or in your inventory it won't carry over. You might want to strip all your companions naked at the denerim gates and as the archdemon dies. There are a couple of exceptions. The "special" rewards from leliana's song, darkspawn chronicles, witch hunt and golems of amgarrak and a couple of the promo items aren't actually imported, but granted anew upon starting awakening. So even if you don't have them on you you'll get them in awakening (if you have them unlocked, of course). Gold does carry over.

Word of warning, warden's keep equipment doesn't import into awakening. If your warden's wearing dat sexy warden commander plate and wielding starfang you'll find yourself naked and unarmed upon arrival.

I always make a post-endgame save where I ransack my companions and the storage chest.

And yes, money does transfer over, and you'll need plenty of it. Preferably you should have 100+ sovereigns in cash.

And since you begin Awakening in the middle of combat it looks pretty funny when you are fighting the darkspawn too sexy for your shirt... :D

Another word of warning: awakening is notoriously buggy, so do keep frequent saves in multiple slots. There is one particularly nasty bug where the autosave is past the glitch point.

And if your warden's not wearing anything and wielding nothing, you'll find yourself fully armored and armed upon arrival.

Good advice as always.  I was going to buy Awakening from the PS store for $39.99 but I figured I could get it cheaper at Gamestop and use the difference to buy DAO 2.  While I am waiting for the store to open, I started the sell of everything that I do not need.

I hope you guys are around when I need you for Awakening, the blurb within the game states that it is extremely difficult:(.  The dragon was quite hard, but I changed some of my tactics, like allowing my character to be controlled by the CPU (switched him to using the bow & arrow) and I took control of Alistair. Commanded the Dalish Elves to fight along side of us.  Jumped on the Ballista a few times.  And after an intense battle, we were victorious.

Actually, many people (myself included) found it easier than the main game. This is mostly due to the fact that some of the new talents (for archer rogues, in particular) are quite overpowered.

Now Golems of Amgarrak, that is the difficult one.

Is another one of the glitches related to audio?  All of a sudden I am not getting any in-game audio. Well, I get the sound of fire crackling, but no footsteps or swords clanging.

It's not common (I think), but that is one I've heard of before. I've heard it rights itself once you have done the first part and fought the darkspawn at Vigil's Keep. If the problem persists after that, then you have An Issue.

As for the big, game-breaking bug, what platform are you on? Because if you're on the PC you could just install this mod which fixes it:

http://dragonage.nex...om/mods/1762//?

If not, then there is a way to work around it, but it involves spoilers, so I don't know how much you want to be told. The non-spoilery version is: SAVE OFTEN! And don't just rely on one save slot either. There may come a point where you hit a deadend and need to reload...

Oh yes, and as for game difficulty - it's definitely easier than Origins. You're quite the wrecking ball by now and the enemies aren't quite levelled up to match.

This is the giant glitch in awakening (yeah I'm kind of violating the no spoilers rule, but it's something you need to know in advance...)

There's a place called the silverite mines. Upon entering it, you are captured. If any character is naked in their cell (as opposed to wearing clothing), reload to before you were captured, because if this happens all equipment on that character will be lost forever. Strip the character(s) in question naked, then re-enter.

The bug is traced to a couple of items when they are equipped. Key to the city is one of them, and since it's one of the most powerful rings in origins it's likely someone will be using it.

And, yeah, I'll add another voice that awakening is much easier than origins. The new talents and equipment just far outstrip the increase in enemy difficulty. If you want to go completely crazy, it's possible to create a dual wielding spirit warrior with 100% evasion and spell resistance, plus 100% crit chance and 200% crit damage.
