In my current state of the game, the right side of Orzammar's Diamond Quarter is blackened out. Is there anything over there of consequence? Btw, I am in a PS3.

Some areas such as most of the Royal Palace will only open up as you progress through the Orzammar main quest (Paragon of Her Kind).
