Clip Capacity, Heavy Barrel and Incendiary Ammo.

Shoot at their feet.

Depends on which kit you are using. Normally I use extended mag and heavy barrel. If I'm using a caster kit then I substitute the power magnifier for the extended mag. I prefer using incendiary rounds with the scorpion as it seems to apply its effects pretty well. Do not use the piercing mod or AP ammo with the scorpion as it cannot pierce cover.

Extended clip & Heavy barrel, aim at the floor near enemy feet, it turn the sticky bombs into proximity ones. Lot of gore afterward.
Consumables are only applied if you hit the target with the sticky, use whatever you like.

This is the only gun on which explosive ammo makes any sense. Sure, incendiary is better, but when else are you going to use explosive?

And GI.

I like using the pistol scope on it, shooting things clear across the map and watching them explode is something that I enjoy!
I tend to use it on adepts as a backup weapon and use warp ammo.

Distribute shots evenly between the floor and the target's body. Cryo Ammo is a particularly satisfying choice as unshielded mooks will freeze on hit and shatter when the bombs go off, but all non-penetrating ammo works just fine.

For bosses you'll want something else than the Scorpion.

As previous posters said, mag size and heavy barrel. Shoot at the feet.

For the ammo to use, it depends on the kit you're playing. But armor piercing and drill rounds are totally wasted on the scorpion since it can't pierce.

A very fun way to use this gun is with cryo ammo and the paladin sentinel against geths. Shoot at the feet of a group of pyros / hunters / rocket troopers, incinerate, drain. They're all dead.

It's otherwise a good "anti-phantom" weapon.

The second half of that sentence is true, but the first half is false.  While the Scorpion cannot pierce (so the Pistol piercing mod is a complete waste), the weapon still receives the damage modifiers from those ammo types.

That you can have with incendiary rounds, with the advantage of priming for an explosion or DoT.

You get a damage bonus from incineday but it's hardly on the same level as that which you get from drill rounds.

?

Assuming highest level ammo:
Drill: +30% against armor and health
Incendiary: +50% against armor and health
AP: +50% against armor and health
Disruptor: +25% against health, +100% against shields and barriers
Phasic: +15% against health, +150% against shields and barriers
Warp: +60% against armor and health, +120% against barriers
Explosive: +30% (2.5m AOE) against everything, up to a maximum of 250 points (Scorpion won't hit the limit)

For pure damage Warp is superior to Drill and AP, but it's understandable if you want to reserve it for biotic kits.

A little off topic, but how does explosive ammo work with the scorpion?

On topic: I'd go with the extended or heavy barrel. Beyond that, it depends on what you're playing. If you're a power-centric kit, grab the power amplifier. If you're weapons spec, I'd grab the improved clip. If you're using two weapons on an adept, perhaps use ultra light materials.

If you're on host, aim at the mob. Off host, aim at their feet or the wall next to them. If the mine sticks to a mook, you're more likely to hit a second mook. If you miss, though, you'll hit nothing - that's why I'd aim for the floor or wall off host. Easier to ensure someone gets hit.

It will prime for explosion on a direct hit to the body. The ammo will explode slightly before the shot itself detonates, staggering the target (if a mook). It will stagger through shields. In other words, it adds a little more CC. Oh, and +30% AOE damage against health and all defenses, up to a maximum of 250 points (I forgot to include explosive ammo in my list).

Good points, but from my experience, it's always best to target both the mob and the floor/walls. It gives you better CC as the shots will go off at different times, it benefits from your ammo, and it's also a bit more forgiving in case you miss. Leave out direct hits only if the lag is truly horrible.

Recently tried gun, some pretty good stuff, I say.. No clue on what to slap on it though. I just like the boom boom it produces

Considering that you usually shoot at enemy's feet, I'm loathe to waste the better ammo types on a Scorpion and go with Cryo or Explosive instead.

Fun gun on vanguards. Pepper at the feet of a group of mooks. Then charge in a start punching while the rounds explode around you.

It's also worth using on kits with a rate of fire boost. Be sure to equip the ext mag though.

Extended magazine and heavy barrel, with incendiary rounds. But I don't like ir, never really use it. It's outclassed by weapons like the acolyte and venom which serve a much better job of staggering and dealing with annoying enemies like phantoms. Scorpion is really underwhelming.

I find it hilarious on characters with RoF bonus. Usually I use it only as a secondary for Phantoms, when I feel lazy, but when I use it as primary I use explosive ammo, because why not.

You actually have to stick the enemy to get an ammo CC effect, so keep that in mind. The easy way to use this gun is to just shoot the ground to stagger lock, although this weapon appears to have some magnetic correction, even on PC.

Scorpion was one of the most useful guns in the game, only lost some ground when Acolyte was introduced. You can almost always afford to bring it along as a backup since it is light, and if you really need the weight you can often get away with ULM plus the standard barrel.

I use the Magazine upgrade and Heavy Barrel, or High Caliber Barrel, with cryo ammo, for kits with incendiary power, or explosive ammo. I try to stick 'em if they're not in my face and stagger if they are.

You can use it on a Marksman kit with Disruptor/Phasic ammo. I use it along side the Blood Pack Punisher. If you hit them directly, it can be a really decent Shield stripper.
