I usually go with Elemental, Spirit, and Arcane and play as primarily a nuker. I do throw in the basic healing and some sustainable party buffs as well. I don't care for Blood Mage, and I preferred DA:O's Spirit Healer over DA2's. Force Mage is decent, but I prefer direct damage over crowd control as a mage, usually I leave that to warriors or other mages.

Spirit Healer was always my go to, but I miss the Battle Mage specialization from Awakening.

Something like the Keeper specialization from Awakening. Maybe this time you'll get talents closer to the ones used by the ancient elves.

Since I want to play an evil(ish) character for one of my playthroughs, I will use blood magic.

Oh, and then I will also use lighting and force magic and call myself a Sith Lord!

Wasn't that what Arcane Warrior was?

Arcane Warriors are from the time of ancient elves yes.

I just said something about the ancient elves because it could be used as an excuse/introduction to the specialization. Just like in Origins, you find an orb that teaches you the Arcane Warrior spec.

Maybe for this one, the Dalish find out more about their past - thus introducing new and improved abilities that are "closer to the ones used by the ancient elves"

I've always used a mage in Dragon Age but never touched blood magic for lore reasons so in DA2 I was a Spirit Healer/Force Mage and will prob be something similar in DA:I.

My favorite spells are always the fire and ice ones. >:-D

If I go that route, it'll definitely be a blood mage. All hail the night mother.

I'm hoping they have that Specialization a bit more balanced that the version from Dragon Age 2. New forms of performing diabolical acts would be neat.

When I play mages I usually drift towards a healer/support/controller role.

I love the concept of a Spirit Healer but I which they would expand on it a little more.

If I can only have one specialization, I'll pick the one that blows up the most stuff.

I usually go blood mage, for blood wound, with full entropy, love the hexes and enough spirit for virulent walking bomb and primal for petrify. So anything that allows me to shut down an entire group or allow my companions to shatter some I will be happy.

that depends on how many spells are in the game.

Seriously I hate the idea that there is a equal number of spells in the game as their is weapon skills for fighter rogues.. that seems so limiting, for obvious reason there should be 3 times as many spells to pick from when making a mage than fighting skills for fighters and rogues.

Just imagine intiating dialogue with a surrendering enemy, and you use blood magic as a execution method on them.

The type with a love of fireballs. I like to go mostly elemental/primal with a splash in other trees and spirit healer for specialization. That way I don't need to double up on mages for healing or AoE nuking. I leave control to my sidekicks.

 Female human mage with...

I honestly have no idea. I might go with light, medium, or heavy armor depending on whats viable(and what looks the coolest).

As for abilities/specialization there's no way I can predict that now. I've always been a fan of fire, though, and I like to have atleast one healing spell.

Have all the mage specializations been confirmed?

I know Blood Magic, and Spirit Healer are guaranteed.

If I play one, it'll be as a damage dealer. Buff bots and healers bore me. I really hope gameplay is viable for a party that doesn't consist of the holy trinity.

To become a blood mage in DAI you will have to bring tree heads to the magister lords

I really liked the force magic tree to drag large groups into a pile then drop heavy aoe damage spells on them. Cross class combos are fine but spell combos were better. The mage class was far better in DAO than in DA2. Any doubts about this just drop a glyph of repulsion on a doorway then activate storm of the century so it centers on the door. If you had your survival high enough to see enemies through walls it was as powerful as I imagine magic should be.

I always play rogue first time through- I have to know what is in the chests- I play mage second time through, usually primal, because I love throwing fireballs at crowds and watching them get thrown.

I would like to be an arcane warrior with elemental magic to boot (that's if they bring it back). I did also quite like the force mage specialisation in DA2.

But I will never be a blood mage, I can't bring myself to go down that road!
