I've waited so damn long to get this weapon and finally unlocked it today.

I've seen a lot of people here and a lot of builds making use of the PPR, and it seems for the most part, people think it's God's gift to the art of killing all the things.

I re-spec'd my Collector Adept to make best use of the PPR, but at level one, it feels like I'm shooting a water gun at the enemy.

I experimented with some different ammo mods and some AR mods, and while these made it more effective, I feel like I could have done more damage with a water balloon.

Is it just that it sucks at lvl 1? Or are there other ways to increase its effectiveness without waiting for more URs to drop?

The general consensus is that infinite ammo weapons don't get to good until they've been upgraded a bit (around level 5ish). I have mine at 3 and it's pretty good on the ACA, GJ, and Destroyer.

Just wait until you get a few more upgrades for it and then come back to it. It's still good at level 1 IMHO, I used it a lot on the Destroyer at level 1.

Edit: Make sure you have a piercing mod/ammo for dealing with armor, since it's a high RoF/low damage per shot weapon, armor affects it to a higher degree. I don't use it unless I have AP 3 or AR heavy barrel on it.
Edit2: Always use spare ammo mod. Always.

Well, I find it goes fairly hard on a destroyer specced for weapon damage. But mine's level 9 or something. I do play on platinum though.

Acshually, I has a question about that.

I normally run with armor piercing ammo with that gun, as well as ammo capacity and the 25% damage boost barrel.

Given that APA ignores 90% of an armored target's defences already, how much of a difference does the hv barrel make? Isn't the 25% damage boost preferable, as it boosts damage against everything?

I'm freely admitting ignorance here.

Clearly you're some kind of fool, or just had unrealistic expectations. I can't say the latter is unexpected given that BSN loves to hype, and dehype for that matter.

Well, if you don't mind some cheese, this guy is platinum visable. Can be more than decent on gold with warp/drill ammo (make sure you switched the barell for drill)..
PPR is a pain of mine. It was my  most wanted gun, and it became the last maxed.

EB + AP/Drill
HVB + IA/Warp
The most optimal choice for most guns (sans crusader, phoon, executioner and big snipers, and projectile wrapons ofc)
Hvb/piercing mode actually decrease the effectiveness of AP rounds as it introduces penetration penality.

I feel like this gun does get drastically better after level V.
On the other hand, I did this in platinum games and had a TON of fun.

Thanks. I've been using the TS a lot recently, actually. May try the weapon out on him.

Not trying to condescend but, you do know that you have to fire for a few seconds for it to rev up and do decent damage, right?

Because of this mechanic it is the weapon that improves the most from one to ten of any gun in the game (Bigger clip = more time when it can stay rev'ed up).

These are the two builds I like the PPR on the most:

Collector: http://kalence.drupa...!24251384!G.99G

Destroyer: http://kalence.drupa...!24K51314!98.AG

The magazine size mod is always a must.

TBH I didn't start liking it until I had it at a fairly high level, but I think that was mostly due to not liking the rev up mechanic until I got used to it.

When I first got my PPR, I used this build. You can't go wrong with it.

N7 Destroyer

Make sure to hold the trigger, don't tap it! The PPR has a small ramp-up time, it becomes pretty awesome once it reaches "ramped-up-ness".

I'm still having it on Level 2, but I am using it on this 3 builds and it works quite well:

N7 Destroyer
Cabal Vanguard
Awakened Collector

Also, Cabal vanguard is the worst Turian to use ppr on (no debuffs, no ranged cc).

I love it on a Volus Merc. The pets combined with your cloak give you plenty of time to keep shooting. Not as effective as shooting at scanned targets, but I like it anyway. :)

I've built my HE as a no-overload bad boy once. Combat drone for prolonged CC, incinerate for cheese with IA PPR.
Was quite entertaining actually.

For ACA, you should be running Warp Ammo 3 or 4 with Extended Magazine and HV Barrel, or AR Piercing if you don't have HVB.

Destroyer is probably the best all around PPR user though predominantly because he doesn't get staggered and can keep on firing when you are in the hot fire multiplier.

In general the setups for PPR are:

Extended Mag + HV Barrel or AR Piercing + Incendiary Ammo for combat classes, or casters with detonator.

Extended Mag + HV Barrel or AR Piercing + Warp Ammo for biotics.

Extended Mag + Extended Barrel + AP Ammo for combat classes.

The first makes use of the Incendiary Ammo glitch, which is part of the reason the PPR got so much hype on here.

Exactly how I'd use PPR on a Turian Soldier, except that I'd take Shredder instead of Hammer for better staggering.

I've played with a number of people who have had the weapon, so when I got it, I was aware that you had to fire it for several seconds continuously. The first thing I did when I slapped it on a character was add a Magazine Upgrade, because I knew it was a "sustained fire" weapon.

I started running some numbers with the character builder last night and the Destroyer option is one I'm eager to try out.
