And I find it often has little or nothing to do with the characters/classes, and more to do with the players and how well they synergise - even something as simple as melee greeting in between waves goes a long way towards making a match great.

No, it's useless. It reduces the armor by whooping 25, meaning your guns deal 25 more damage per bullet, and that's provided you have no armour piercing whatsoever.

Exactly, that's what I was trying to get at. I know that the armour mitigation isn't the same as a debuff (e.g. from proxy and recon mines).
