It's been you the whole time. You caused the tears in the veil. You secretly manioulated events behind the scenes to begin the Mage/Templar War, the Elven Uprising and the Orlesian Rebellion.

You opened the tear at the Peace Conference but due to the intervention of Hawke and The Warden, you got cought in the middle and ended up with amnesia. Hawke and the Warden die in the process unfortunately.

At the end you betray The Inquisition and your team and the final choice is:
A: Continue playing as The Inquisitor, kill your team, open and tear on top of your army and go forward with destroying the world.
B: Play interchangeably as the rest of your companions. No dialogue choices but previous choices effect how they react and how the ending plays out, including who lives and who dies..

I've only got one thing I want in an antagonist. I want someone I can hate so I can I enjoy watching them die. When Alistair killed Loghain in my story, I was like YEAH!!! He got what he deserved, IMO, and it felt good to see him get it.

I liked Saren, wouldn't mind seeing another villain like him. But Saren at the end of the day wasn't really a villain so meh.

But this game is really investigating how the veil was torn open. Unless there is one being behind that and controlling all that's going on now that demons are pouring through I'm not sure what kind of antagonist you would have. You're pushing your pieces over a map, is there someone doing that for the demons.

Anyone ever see we were soldiers? A chess match of two people using assets like that would be awesome. Hard to do though.

I liked Saren aswell and actually you're not to far off on how this is going to go because there is a single antagonist behind everything going wrong in Thedas including tearing the veil open.

In the wake of that breach opening up, with all of the nations of the south and the major organizations- the church, the Templars, the mages- all being rendered somewhat impotent by their infighting, it starts to emerge that there's a suspicious level of chaos in anticipation of that event.

Who could orchestrate such a plan? What purpose does it serve? Why did it succeed? To answer these troubling questions, player's reinstate the inquisition, an ancient organization that answers to no outside power.

Setting its sights on all involved parties- the chantry- the grey wardens- the orleasians- the inquisition puts aside petty politics and extracts answers. Of course once you get to the bottom of the mystery, you still need to address tge issue of the breach.

With Inquisition, it's about looking into what conspiracies happen, what kind of dastardly deeds could occur, when people are weak and naturally torn apart.

Another mystery is who exactly is the inquisitor fighting against, the demons pouring out of the sky but you learn early on that there's a single mastermind behind the breach and all of the chaos surrounding it.

Unlike the situation with Loghain, however you don't learn the identity of your target immediately in inquisition. All players know is that they have a single adversary- an equal- working in opposition to their efforts, and part of the story involves getting to the bottom of the schemes and unmasking your foe.

I think it's one of our strongest suits is having characters you either care about or absolutely despise but you rarely forget about them.

All of this is from the gi cover story from awhile back and the quotes are from Laidlaw which is pretty much what I want and what was lacking from the recent games.

Maybe you could convince the antagonist or one of them to join your side like Loghain in DAO?

But do it in a completely immoral way, like sacrificing a ton of people in a blood ritual or something, right?

Because otherwise the Inquisition and the antagoinsit would have the same goal and no reason to oppose each other.

No, no. I want to leave the veil torn, and since I am the protagonist, the antagonist would have to be someone who wants to close the tears.

A band of rogue (not evil) Grey Wardens who sought to prevent the next Blight from happening, but failed.

Seriously, an antagonist doesn't need to be evil. Ever hear of the Hero Antagonist?

They are antagonistic because the Inquisition is usurping their authority (or creating more problems).

Huh, I honestly can't imagine why someone would want the veil to reamin torn. What's your reasoning for it?
