How is Citadel 'bittersweet' in the slightest? Everything goes right. Clone dies. Crew gets Normandy back. Big happy ending.

I'm curious what 'bitter' is to you if Citadel is 'bittersweet.' A single friendly character dying?

That's the point though. "Bioware was as well". They could not write a conventional victory, like you wanted. It doesn't matter if it's able to imagined or not. That's not how they wanted to write it. Which makes enemies like this all the more frustrating.

There's this thing called 'learning.'

Are you saying they can learn from this? They seem pretty happy with what they did. At least publicly. I don't know if they want to learn anything from this or not.

Then you clearly have not been paying attention at all. Is that why the spend a ton of money making the Extended Cut? Because they were 'pretty happy' with the original ending?

You seem to be under the very silly impression that unless they release a statement condemning ME 3 as the worst thing ever, ever, they think they did a flawless job.

I said they seem to be happy. That's no excuse to start reading multiple motivations from my small post. Slow down a bit.

There can be no great victory and great resolution without great challenge.

They made a game that got lots of perfect scores and sold well. They're justified in being happy overall.

I enjoyed the dlc. I played it with each class.

I also played with all possible squadmates and I played it with only Steve, Sam, Joker, James, T'soni and edi in the dlc.

I never said anything either way about it being justified or not. What's this have to do with anything we said before? I said they seem to be happy with what they did. Don't make it any more than that.

And you're thinking because of that, they're incapable or unwilling to learn from their mistakes and the reactions of players?

Wait, did they do good or bad? Pick a side, David.

Well if we look at how well recieved Kai Leng and Cerberus was it makes you wonder why Walters made them the focus of the next comic series.

Brooks may have been decently liked but I dobt mnay people were clamoring for her to become Forrest Gump.

I didn't say that either. I said "I don't know". I'll quote myself, just a few posts above:

"I don't know if they want to learn anything from this or not."

I won't know until I see the next game.

I think they're proud of the work they produced, not of "what they did" in terms of partitioning the player base.  But given the rational comments I've seen about anticipation for the next game, it's not as significant of a blow as some would like to think.  People still want more Mass Effect.

From the big details to small stuff in Citadel, it's obvious that they learned a few things, though. Here's hoping Montreal takes that momentum (and some of their RPing ideas from Omega) and run with it.

At the cost of their credibility.  Wouldn't call that a won, overall

I'll make sure and make a nice long thread about why class based interrupts with significant story effect are stupid the moment a ME 4 section is opened up. Make sure BioWare has at least some feedback smarter than 'Moar rpg more better.'

given how poorly you've been recieved when talking about storytelling by everyone, including the gorram mods, do you really think thats a good idea?

Oh, trust me: I'm definitely looking forward to that.

More of your perspective on RPGs is always a treat.

Well, BW has said that not every bit of feedback is taken into account. They can't please everybody. So hopefully, they'll stick with what the masses asking for 'moar RPG' than yours. They aren't making games to please you David.

If the entirety of ME3 had been like Citadel the game would have been complete and utter s**t. Citadel is good because it is a self contained DLC which has absolutely no connection to the Reaper/Cerberus story. unlike the other ME3 DLC's.

The whole reason Citadel is fun is because it's not meant to be taken seriously, so we can overlook the fact that it has the worst DLC main plot in the entire series because of that. If you make it the main plot then we have to take it seriously and scrutinise it and I don't think you want to see just how badly BSN and the internet would rip it apart.

If the whole game was like Citadel, yeah it would have been a silly, plontless game.  However, ME3 in general was so depressing, pointless, and hopeless it needed some lighthearted fun.  In fact, there are a lot of people pit thre who use Citadel as their epilogue to the game, imagining it takes place after the war.

That such is felt to be needed is telling about the main plot

Well, you seem to despise everything that many others love about them. You believe in taking away the ability of the player to define their character, hence limiting the RP aspect of games. It's really easy to come to this conclusion.

Shadow Broker can be summed up pretty much in the same way.  Does it say the same things about ME2?
