Shadow Broker is 'depressing, pointless, and hopeless'? Hardly. Quite the opposite.

Or, if you meant it the either way, it's certainly not bright and carefree like Citadel either.

Shadow Broker can be summed up pretty much in the same way.  Does it say the same things about ME2?

It can? That's news to me.

Its disconnected from the main plot is what I think he was going for

Lighthearted, "pointless" fun detached from the main plot? Sure can.

Not at all. Shadow Broker is the DLC most connected to the main plot. Not the collectors, perhaps, but the overall arc of the Reapers.

Well, the fact that the main plot isn't all that truly compelling to completely devote the game to it is why I like ME2 so much. It gets me out and exploring the galaxy. I like the fact that there is an overarching goal to accomplish, but I also like how I'm doing it on my own time too.

That is just utterly silly. LotSB was neither lighthearted nor pointless. And although it was detached to the collectors, it's heavily attacted to the overall arc.

Gonna have to elaborate on that one.

Becuase as I see it its a nice little distraction for those who were pissed that the blueberry got so little content in ME2

It is pointless. Don't do it? That's ok, it was done anyway, just without you. It makes no difference if you do it or not.

The main plot itself features pretty detached episodes. Not a huge departure there.

And it's cool that it does.

I'll give you lightheated but pointless fun detached from the main plot is what I say about most of ME2 as a whole.

Video games themselves are pointless.

The overall arc of what? Also, it was pretty pointless to just about everything. Especially since she runs back off after a few months to be with Shepard.

And as I said, that's part of why it's so enjoyable IMO.

Shadow Broker is pretty pointless if you don't romance Liara and her actually being the broker turned out largely irrelevant.I actually prefer Arrival, which is at least briskly paced.

Ditto. LotSB really seems to be a romance DLC for Liara.

I also really wish there was an option to betray Liara to the Broker for his help.

Back to Citadel. One thing I find funny about it is CloneShep is set up to be a villain, but he's basically my ME1 Renegade. Something we're gradually unable to roleplay ourselves after ME1 (probably for the better..).

Indeed, though I will gripe about the collector base decision not amounting to a hill of beans, as much as I will the Rachni.

I still think we should've had to option to let the clone live tbh. For sake of hilarity if nothing else.

ME3 had to be dark. It's not how I want my games to be generally, but it was appropriate for the story being told.

I tried to save him, but he wants nothing to do with the Cult of Shepard.
