''A brand new report about the next Mass Effect game in the series has just appeared online coming from a fan who got a behind-closed-doors presentation about the new title from developer BioWare
.

The Mass Effect series delivered a stunning role-playing shooter experience, telling the story of Commander Shepard and his fight against the Reapers.

After the conclusion of the trilogy with Mass Effect 3, BioWare quickly confirmed that its Montreal studio is working on a brand new game set in the same universe with a new protagonist and story.

Now, after sharing just a few small details, a big report has appeared online thanks to a fan who participated in a special meeting with BioWare at the recent PAX event.

He posted his experience over on ---- and confirmed that BioWare wants to make the new game a sequel, as the studio him and other fans a series of concept artworks with quite a few different races that have already been present in the franchise, like Asari, Salarian, or Krogan, but also two new beings.

"The first one being described as "Arrogant". They were really skinny, almost skeletal. Their bodies vaguely looked like a boney Turian. They had glowing eyes and a neck that frilled up from their chest (once they show it off you'll see how hard it is to describe. Their heads almost remind me of the aliens from Independence Day," he said.

"The second new race was described as "Ancient, Advanced, and Guardian". They had a similar color scheme to reapers and they looked like classic fantasy/sci-fi golems. Sleek rocky or metallic bodies with bright glowing lines flowing all over them. Some had fragmented pieces and shattered bits floating in place around them."

BioWare also showed fans models of different other races, like Asari, Salarian, Krogan, or Human, all recreated in the new Frostbite 3 engine.

Armor customization will also be quite important for the new game, as he fan was showed different concepts concerning the iconic gear characters will wear in the future game.

New vehicles such as ships and transportation vehicles, similar to Mass Effect 1's Mako, were also briefly shown by BioWare, hinting that exploration will play a big part.

What's more, BioWare is planning to make a special save game customization tool, which will easily allow players to make their choices either in the program or through a comic book.

No other details were given and BioWare is still not commenting, so take this report with a grain of salt.
''

---

I find this report extremely interesting, not to say I'm a bit doubtful about the legitimacy of it, but discussing it either way should be fun (if this has been posted already I am sorry, couldn't really find any threads on it) This means an ending would have to be canonised?

Discuss.

I will bet that whatever ending you chose, the reapers are not going to be in the galaxy. There may be a 1 minute cutscene showing the results of your ending choice, and no matter what you chose it will have little or no impact on the new game.

Better than a prequel or an AU I suppose.

Yep.

Destroy - as is.

Control - Shepard retreats to Dark Space with Reapers.

Synthesis - slight texture change to all in game models.

I honestly don't know how Synthesis would work for a sequel, ''just put a glowy texture on top'' would only be a fragment of what they'd have to do, since it would definitely affect the lore and each species individually.

I'm p curious about the teased aliens, though. And admittedly 1000001% glad it's going to be a sequel if the report is to be believed.

Baseline for my interest in new ME games: -10
New information: the next ME game will be a sequel
Interest now at -8
Let's see if they'll get me into the positive numbers over the next few years

As for the ending choices: I believe it not possible to make a scenario that fits both Synthesis and the other options, not without making its effects nothing more than cosmetic. So we'll have a canon scenario based either on one ending, or on a unified Destroy/Control scenario where the Reapers have left and the existence of the Shepalyst is legend/religion. Even the latter is difficult. The scenario will need to be set a significant time after the Reaper War, several centuries perhaps.

So it's just a story from some dude on a forum who's claimed to have spoken with a BioWare employee at a "secret" convention.

Goddamn, how disappointing.

The source is the Indoctrination Theory message board. I don't consider them to be a credible source.

More than likely. The reapers would taint the atmosphere of the game. I see it being likely that most people would simply not accept their lingering presence in the galaxy.

The original report never actually confirms that the next game is a sequel, it's just the opinion of the person that said they attended the PAX panel with Mike Gamble.

Media reports have kinda inaccurately represented what was in that post, to be honest.

BS until/unless a Bioware rep confirms it. Come on, folks. It's way too early.

Ugh don't treat this article as legit -_-. I say this as an IndocTheory poster. It's obvious clickbait.

That said, the information that Paine gave, while a bit old now, IS at least more likely to be legit.
It certainly could be false, but a closed door meetup *did* happen - it's more a matter of whether Paine is telling the truth about being in it.

Actual Summary of more relevant information (imo):
-What is N7?; importance put onto that
-Asking whether people wanted sequel, prequel, unrelated distant time; suggested sequel
-First race, 'Arrogant', description of it
-Second race, 'Ancient, Advanced, Guardian', description of it
-CG models and animations of existing races: asari, salarian, human, krogan
-More differences between models of other species, like humans already had
-Asked which races people would get rid of if they had to; many said quarian and krogan
-Much more armor customization
-Land vehicles; unknown use
-Normandy-esque ship(s?) to fit Mako-esque vehicle
-Characters and choices most important to Bioware, but a return to exploration and discovery
-"A stranger in a strange land like ME1" paraphrase by Gamble
-protagonist to be an easy conduit for new and old players... to see the world through familiar eyes(?)
-a hint at possible plot flag import system; could they be trying a DA:Keep for Mass Effect, and how does that impact the story? (Is this an indirect sequel, at least overall, and it just isn't tied to Shepard's experiences?)

Sort of. I can personally confirm that feature and UI prototyping was happening already in 2012 (sorry, you only have my word as well, haha), but I don't know much more than that and wouldn't spill the beans if I could anyway. Even saying what I just did, feels like too much. Bleh.

But anyway, that might mean partial-playable alpha builds in 2013, and full story builds in 2014 (as a reference, DA:I is attempting to finish their full story build by the end of this year 2013).
This isn't even much of a stretch to assume a schedule like this.
As such, it would be totally realistic for Bioware to show assets like this around September or whenever, like Paine said. Their only big deal is that the game itself is fragmented and not even close to fully playable (beta). Art/animation assets are *very* early in most games' production and shape the direction of them - due to how expensive and time consuming they are to substantially change later on.

Depends where Synthesis (etc) took place at or in.

So does Shepard secretly live on the Citadel if you pick Control? Or on the Reapers? Is it ambiguous?
More importantly, for any answers of the above, is it possible to move ControlShepard to say, Omega?
