He is referring to the themes he highlighted for ME3, victory through sacrifice, survival through submission

Well, survival by submission is just nonsense, so I was not paying attention there.

How is victory through sacrifice rendered meaningless by canonizing Destroy?

That's it tho Morocco, you say they learned their lesson (some interviews point out to the opposite) but you have no concrete proof they did and until that I put VERY little beneath them. Sure, there was a time I would have DEFINITELY put this beneath them, but that time has past

Also, the ending sucked, their handling of it sucked, deal with it. It's not about ****ing, it's about not letting them forget it (which Bioware is good at). They can only make amends about it (as changing it would be messing with dat art) now but it appears they can't/won't/would not matter. So, better off to start with a clean slate and forget the whole faux pas.

This firum seriously needs a thumbs-up emote.

When it comes to the ending of ME3 and it's general reception in the community, I believe BioWare really noticed what people liked/didn't like.

I am calm about the next game and I even hope for a outstanding outro in ME"4" that will serve as a recuperation for testicle-tightened ME3 haters.

So relax ladies and let BioWare do it's magic while it's stepmother EA isn't watching.

You keep thinking about them as separate entities, they are not.

Also, what makes you think they learned? The citadel DLC?

EC pretty clearly demonstrates they either didn't understand or didn't care what people didn't like.

This interview pretty much confirms that "Your opinion matters only if you agree with us"  (Guess what?  My Shepard isn't and never was Walter White!)

So yeah, I'm pessisitic

Obviously it was a bad comparison, but what I hate more is how Walters doesn't understand that people are not whining because Shepard dies almost no matter what, but because the OTHER stuff in the endings violate/cheapens lore and just ruins the experience. I just read through Final Hours when I saw I still had it on my PC and it's just so obvious Casey nor Mac knew what the hell they had just written with the ending. Casey sitting there, claiming that Mass Effect 3 is about the struggle between organics and synthetics. I hope for his sake that he didn't actually think that was deep.

And that is exactly why I never started watching Spartacus or Breaking bad

Never watched Spartacus, but Breaking Bad is a great show.

It doesn't matter if the show is good or bad.  What matters isthe characters on these shows aren't ours.  We don't get a say in what they do, how they react, or in their ultimnate fate.  We are passive observers, not active participants. Not like in a game that celebrates player agency (supposedly.)

A game is not a tv show.  It is not a movie.  And it certainly isn't a comic book.  Until they stop trying to be these things, I don't think they hqave learned anything,

Ultimately, the characters do not belong to you. They are bioware's.

Enough people honestly thought differently for it to get through to McCasey and make them decide to troll us with a refuse ending.

I said choice/sacrifice ... the sacrifice of the geth will be shown as just an arbitrary bit thrown in to make the best (canon) choice less appealing. As for how canonizing makes the choice in and of itself meaningless, well because.

You are free to make a Shepard. But the character and setting itself belongs to Bioware and they are free to do  whatever they wish with them.

I hate how they keep pretending it's just Shepard's death which was the problem ... and not the combination with the starchild sucking all illusion of agency out of the game.

Either make Shepard a real winner, who dies to really save the universe for all his friends. Or let him get a partial victory and survive to make blue babies. Having him die AND be a tool, that's not what I wanted, not within the realm of expectations either after ME1 and ME2 (which promised a true victory AND blue babies, but I guess a true happy ending is too much to bear for the grim derp generation).

The only thing depressing about the ending is the people who lost their marbles over it.
