While I would overjoyed if I got a sexytime scene with Liara in ME2, I seriously doubt it's going to happen.  Casey has really been talking up the ME1 love interests lately, taking time in practically every interview to mention how "important" they are to the overall story.  I think he's doing this to pre-empt an uproar after the game ships, when it turns out that all we get is a two minute conversation with our love interest.  I seriously hope I'm wrong, but it's better to assume the worst. 
BTW.... I don't care what Casey says..... there is no friggin way I'm cheating on Liara.

This.  I get the same impression from his comments as well, though i wouldn't mind being pleasantly surprised that they actually are more than just statues in ME2.

I just hope who ever I romance will have a great cutseen like in ME1 and not DA:O. In ME1 is was so hot and sexy, then in DA:O it wtf why the hell are the wearing clothes. I am sorry but come on clothes! Its a tease I don't want to dry hump my romance. The game is rated M put in the nudity. Its like Sten said "the nookie is a lie."

I mean I get that Miranda and SuZe are hot and all, but I guess the question is: Would you cheat because that's ACTUALLY what your Shepard would do from a role-playing perspective, or are you going to cheat because you, the player "just wanna see teh sex." Because if it's the latter, why do you even play rpgs? Lol.

...it should be noted though that I totally plan on rolling a non-import single Shep "just to see teh sex."  ...I'm only human after all.

For me, it's the former and here's why....

According to the story...Sheps "dies" at the beginning of the game and is "rebuilt" by Cerebus.  To which, my Renegade Shep will look at as "I technically died, so that part of my life (meaning Ashely) is over" and will "move on" to greener pastures.

I've been seeing a lot of this on the Dragon Age boards. I guess I don't really get it. I play lots of RPGs, it's my favorite kind of game. I have never "role played" a character I created in the game. I understand what it means, but on the other hand it's not clear. Some people just play the game to... play the game, not role play a specific character.

So we shouldn't play the game because we aren't role playing the avatar we create in it? Nothing against you at all. I just find it strange that the "role play" issue comes up with any choice people make.

We really hashed this over on the old forum. Basically we will barely see our LI (if we had one in ME1) in ME2 because (as stated by Casey) they have to survive for ME3 so that we can close off some important storylines. Not the greatest news and it definetly was not greeted with any enthusiasm. The way this issue was handled suggests that for the most part BW did seem to not want to have anything more to do with the old LIs. We got lame posts that said we should be grateful for the very few scenes we did get and do not expect anything further on down the road. Since then we have had some backtracking and finally got the we need the LIs for ME3. I know it really put a lot of people off and when concerns were voiced the main response from BW was "sorry to lose you but that is what we are doing."  

 Some of the info that came out when the embargo was lifted back in November seemed to show that we'd be getting more than what we were being told but some of the recent vid footage now seems to contradict that. Indeed in one scene we could be seeing the demise of one of the LIs. That demise would really set the cat amongst the pigeons as it would contradict a statement made about what was going on. Still just 6 days to go to see how it turns out though I am not as hopefully as I used to be.

See and that's cool.  Your Shep has his reasons.  I'm mostly annoyed with the crowd that's all "OMG MOVE OVER ASH!  BOOBS!"  My paragade Shep won't be interested in anyone else (I mean he's not a robot so he'll surely recognize that they're hot), but he's just not into anyone else but Ash.  The problem is ME.  In real life I'M all "OMG BOOBS" but I'm not gonna play it that way just because I think Miranda is hot.

And that is a very good point, one which I didn't really consider.  (I tried to edit my previous response but it didn't work for some reason).  I just never really thought about playing a role playing game just to play it since I feel like the point of role playing games is to put yourself in it at least a little.

To the "not a robot" comment....On one level...Shep kinda is now lol...He's part synthetic now with Cerebus rebuilding him.  Hence, all the glowy scars and eyes etc.etc.  But I understand completely your meaning however

However, from a roleplaying perspective, he loves Tali and she's closer to him personally. So he doesn't want to cheat but if Ashley is off in Bugland, then it's going to be rather hard to break up with her.



He expects some uncomfortable conversation when he rescues her.

Same here..... no matter how attracted I am to Miranda and Samara, my primary Shepard only has eyes for Liara.  She didn't have a "We're all gonna die, let's screw!" fling.  She fell in love.  So she's not cheating. 

I definitely want to experience the Miranda and Samara romances, but that's what new careers are for.

My imported Shep will not cheat.  As someone else said, she didn't just sleep with Liara, she fell in love with Liara.  But I sure as heck will be playing a Shep with no LI (Imported if I play through one more time, or fresh) just to experience the new LIs--Miranda, in particular, is growing on me.  Want to see if I can turn her to the light side and take her clothes off too

I see. I just like to know where everyone else is coming from. I have a hard time participating in some topics because people talk about what their character would do and I talk about what I would do.

lucky I have saves set aside on vermier for each of my shepards, so I can use those to experience the romance in me2 without cheating.
