My jumping pancakes. Some of the things you guys brought up are... disturbing to say the least. I don't want to judge people, we're all different, to each his/her own. However, I am not aware that "romance and character discussion" meant "discussing" about the science in the naughty bits.

It's kind of an awkward line to walk as well since this is meant to be a PG-13 forum (without the cussing though).  This is why you also have to be careful about which particular fanart you choose to put up.

I don't care what kind of content has been in previous romance forums. As long as the posters weren't engaging in or discussing anything illegal, there's no call to say they don't deserve to be in public. Romance, sex and fetishes are not shameful subjects. If Bioware chooses to make a space for romance discussion, it will establish rules to govern the topics that are or are not allowed. Either learn to tolerate the content that's produced there, or ignore it if you find it discomforting.

First off, this is not the place for you to talk about kinks or fetishes. Go to fetlife or a hundred different other websites out there if you really must talk about whatever rocks your boat. It shouldn't be be on this site.

The posters have proven that they cannot adhere to the rules. Numerous times. Hence why the ME3 version was shut down. There is no point in making a forum for characters and romances, there is little gain to be had in it from the moderation the things take to keep the shippers, fetishists, and trolls breaking a hundred rules every waking hour.

If you really want to discuss a character there is nothing stopping you from doing it in the main section.

So does this mean we can start a lot of topics on what Merril's feet taste like or the specifics of possible "activities" Morrigan could have partaken in transformation in or other topics within that range?

Doubt it because it was more effort than valuable information that could be gleaned from it. People forget it costs money to host forums and pages and someone can measure the worth and decide how practical it is. Really would you bother reading a 500 page post? Many forums have post page limits for that reason.

I get the idea that similar arguments were made back in the day when showing ankle was considered scandalous. The Morrigan example may have been a bit too out there, but let's focus on legal fetishes or the main question, do you think this type of discussion is appropriate for the BSN which is Bioware's official discussion area with a PG-13 rating?

as for the forums, let them back. i am not too fussed. the sooner we admit the bsn is a cesspit, the sooner we can accept it and make the best of it.

if nothing else, it will provide an endless amount of laughs. if we're lucky, the bsn may get another somethingawful type article.

It wouldn't be on the main page it would be in the romance subforum, that could very easily get a age restriction, a lot of forums do that. But no, I don't think for a second that BW would want things like this on the front page. They're a business after all and I've seen nothing to indicate societal close-mindedness is lessening. Image and all that.

They will just do as they do close inappropriate topics just use your power to report things you think violate the forum rules and let the moderators handle it. So I take it pro-subforum for romance people want more privacy to get crazier for lack of a better term. If you are too embarrassed to post in the regular forum then one should examine the necessity of posting it at all.

So what you're saying is you think Bioware will make what's considred an adults-only section in this part of the forum?  I don't think that's a view that Bioware really want to go for either, or the trouble of putting it up.  We don't even know if the BSN could do that for sections (kinda joke about how crappy BSN can be).  Even the romance sub-forum is still a public part of the forum that represents their company.  The groups could be debated since while it's apart of the site, they're more hidden.  In the end though, I think the fact that you're willing to concede that Bioware wouldn't want it in its main section shows that you don't think Bioware would consider it appropriate to the public viewing it there.

I didn't realize we were arguing 'bout smart business practices tho. And here I was going on about how what people considered normal shouldn't dictate how and what other people got to discuss. Not whether it would be allowed but whether it should be allowed. Silly me.

Yeah. We were just arguing different things then. We can talk about if it should be allowed, but the fact is that it's not something BSN would allow.  Honestly, with all the toxic discussion and staff talking bad about the forum, I'm more suprised Bioware keeps this place up, but I guess they see all the discussion as at least keeping the people on here interested in the games.
