Better wallhack and faster movement are better for melee characters than an additive 10% damage bonus, IMO.Rotward wrote...
If you're going for melee damage, you want hunter mode to have evolution 6b. I'd drop Networked AI 5b in exchange, personally.

Any high damage weapon works.
There is no best way to build a GI, quite a few evolutions are more than viable and will do great.
If you want to snipe, max out Tactical Cloak, if not, rank 4 is sufficient. You will be canceling out of Tactical Cloak almost immediately when you fire so Rank 5 is not necessary ime.
Experiment and find whatever works for you.

Huh? ROF and Accuracy bonuses are the best reason for taking Hunter Mode. I almost always max HM because it's awesome, but it's still awesome just at R5. The GI would still be OP if Hunter Mode Rank 6 was a choice between whether you want your flashlight to glow pink or red.GriM_AoD wrote...
I go 4/6/6/6/4 - Like so. (stronghold/shotgun amp are interchangeable, I just like the added recharge speed)
The only way I play the GI.
I wouldn't skip rank 6 on hunter mode, dat speed+vision.
HM is one of those powers that, imo, is only worth it at rank 6.

Personally, I prefer the speed and vision of hunter mode over the RoF/Accuracy bonuses. If HM only gave speed and vision, I'd still spec fully into it.Miniditka77 wrote...

Totally this. Just use cyclonics to compensate for it's insane squishiness.

My build ends up being a strong weapons platform capable of taking out multiple opponents in a very short time. he will go down a bit more often though.
I have been using the raider more often as well so alternate build.

GPSG absolutely works better than Piranha for me. And, yeah, rank 6 HM is huge. I just couldn't resist the cloak melee bonus to sneak up on enemies and pop them. And Prox Mine at 6 along with passive and HM power bonus is effective for when you can't quite get the GPSG to land the shot. GSMG is there just because I've never used it and figured I might as well try it out.
I don't care about score, but after dropping in mid-game I soon rose to the top of the match board yesterday. Because... after all... GI.
Thanks - this guy's finally fun.

If I had to play it off-host I would probably run the Raider because of the accuracy bonuses on the GI combined with potential triple shot cheese

You know I was using a GI GPS build the other day, and it was pretty intense (always host with GPS though). I personally have mine specced as a sniper because that is usually what I run with the javelin, but if I was going to build for GPS I would probably use this

Totally. On both points. My first match was off-host and a royal PITA. I used to use a Raider with him, but I don't do as well with that gun than, say, Claymore. I think the reticle throws me off at that close range.
GPSG is interesting because it lets you keep a bit of distance 'twixt you and Maurauder's Elbow of Doom. But then you can cloak/melee when you want to get in-yo-face about it.

I really just don't use my secondary with this build so I usually don't bother, but the GPSMG is a good choice for secondary.
Host really makes all the difference when it comes to the GPS, and I do recommend the smart choke because it makes single uncharged shots very accurate and tightens the spread greatly.

GPS works fine off-host
It seemed to me that the tracking wasn't working quite as well when trying to pull off longer distance charged shots. (Didn't matter as long as the target was sitting still.) Then my second game it was working a lot better.

Anything works off-host, but it really benefits from being used by host. Same thing with the Slayer or Novaguard, or the Graal spike thrower. Being host in this game in general makes everything better (except the raider because of triple shot)
