Well, I'd give Asari the boot. They always seem to remind me of Thalmor or lame Highelves.

I don't think I'd want to get rid of any of them, really. The more the merrier, frankly.

Of the ones that exist, I guess I find the Drell to be fairly boring and uninteresting, but I'd still not mind seeing them in the next game.

Been looking around for anything on ME4. Only reason why I am excited for the VGX's this year is because I hope that their is a ME teaser tralier or something.  Yesterday I stumbled upon this article ( http://indoctrinatio...cret-pax-panel ) through the Twiiter thread, so it got me thinking. If you guys and gals had to pick two races in the entire series to see vanish, which would they be and why?

Also not sure if there is any truth to this article, but none the less it is really interesting to think about.

I think the Mass Effect Universe is a rich place because of all the different races you can meet.
If anything, I'd like to get to know more about the different races.
Go to their home world.
Find out about their culture.
See their culture first hand, rather than have squadmates and codex tell us about them.

That said. If we really must remove 2 races.

I'd say

Reapers and
Protheans

That story is over.
It was fun whilst it lasted.
It would be nice to move on.

I'd rather they keep all the races. But if I have to choose, I say Reapers and Hanar.

Reapers and Keepers, their arc is done. I don't see the need to remove any others, we want more options not less.

and no more Protheans, I love Javik but one was enough. Have his suicide/grave as an easter egg with a codex file "The Last Voice of The Protheans."

Let me be perfectly clear:

No Quarians = No Mass Effect 4 for me.  Simple as that.  I've heard rumors that the Quarians won't be in the game, and if that is so, Bioware can kiss my money goodbye.  And being someone who's splurged on the special editions and all the extras for ME2 and ME3, that's a good deal of coin they won't hear jingling in their pockets.

And why even take any races out?  Is that really necessary?

Hanar. I just don't find the jellyfishes appealing. Their funny at times but overall I wouldn't care if I saw them or not.

Why would I want to see any other race vanish? In fact I'd be very upset if there wouldn't be any quarians or krogans in next game. I can deal with them not being playable (I'd love to play quarian) but entirely vanish? No, just no. I would like to see current races developed futher especially less seen ones.

It may be the same reason why they added selectable races to DA: Inqusition that being time and resources most likely. Also remember that time when they were thinking of kicking Tali to the curb? (They may just be having similar thoughts of popularity) I am pretty sure that even though a race may get side lined it won't mean that they won't get mentioned or not get included in a following title.

I wouldn't get rid of any of them, but if I had to choose two, I'd say Humans and Vorcha. Vorcha were not very important and I really didn't like what Bioware did with the human race in the ME series so far.

hanar & hanar, they are just annoying. the Vorcha have great potential just by their facial design alone. they can be extremely terrifying if utilized properly.

but I don't like how they are mostly confined to stereotype roles. for example 99% of the Batarians you've met were more or less terrorists. Hanar are portrayed as religious nuts, Vorcha are the dumb gutter rats of the galaxy, Krogan are insensitive brutes on steroids - very close to being animals.

Asari the whoores of the galaxy, Turians the militant war nerds with a 6 foot carrot between their cheeks, the Volus are swindling cowards, Salarians are weakling scientific geniuses, and the Drell & Elcor are hardly a fit anywhere.

I hate stereotypes. how about some real creativity for once?

My two picks:

Vorcha: an extremely dumb race. they don't add anything to the story, and God only knows how on earth they are considered a "space faring" species. they don't produce anything rather than things to be shot at. Worst, the few interactions there are are limited to "DIE" and such.

Elcor: how on earth do they build tools?, and if a fall on dekunna is really fatal, wouldn't a falling object maim you?

A fall on Earth is fatal.
Falling objects can kill people.

If someone dropped an object as small as a coin from a tall building it would be very dangerous.

Finally Elcor don't build tools on Earth. They build tools on Dekunna.:P Bad joke.
Seriously though, they have hands. They have a sentient brain.
They can build tools.

I still think we are misunderstanding what they meant by removing them. They never said what they were removing them from. Perhaps they actually meant removing them as race options. They did only show the main races when this question was asked after all.

I can't find the page via the link OP gave; what's the general jist of it?

The two I could live without:

Vorcha: their voices are annoying and they have the spoken syntax of a rabid crack addict, and their only contribution to the story seems to be generic foot soldiers. As a race, or individuals, they have no purpose.

Yahg: Loved LotSB, but I don't think this race could be anything short of an antagonist. They're smarter than Salarians, stronger than Krogans, live longer than the Asari; they're over-powered.

Runners up are the Elcor and Hanar; both emulate talking to that owl in Ocarina of Time; how the Hanar live/move out of water is beyond me (even if it is explained), although I'd like to see more of the drell.

Yahg is really the only one I wouldn't bat an eyelid about being written out, I just wouldn't miss the Vorcha

I could do without the Hanar and Volus personally. They seem to be more comedic effect than anything else. Not that I want to see them gone, but if I had to choose 2 to disappear, they would be the ones.

The only race I would ok with seeing gone would be Salarians.

Even batarians and volus are cooler than those lizard-people.

Quarians and Geth.

Good to see I am not entirely alone on that. For better or worse, their arcs are done in ME3, and the Quarian population being as low as it is, as well as the Geth being tightly constricted to their masters' territory, it would be quite easy to skip both.

Then again, going by numbers, Drell are fairly insignificant in the larger scheme of things too. Albeit they are more spread out than the tightly knit Quarians...
