I imagine it is hard to do certain darker shades because of lighting and shadowing. Pure black is hard to shadow correctly so it looks unnatural. In fact I am no expert but shadowing is done with darker tones of the same colors frequently and the darker you get the less contrast you have to set it apart. Makes it look monochromatic instead of having rendered shadows.

Anderson is a black guy born and raised in London with an american accent. Ashley we still don't know what ethnicity she even is. ME point that it's all going to be one to the point we see no difference.

It's inferred that Ashley is an American/Canadian of Anglo-Norman descent.

Though, that does not address the fact that my own ethnicity has very, very little representation in ME, much less throughout video game fiction.

I just don't see why rivianians wouldn't be discriminated against, when fereldans get crapped on so much. National identity seems a big part of thedas, and having a entire nation have people of a distinctive color would jsut be another reason the other people use to judtify not trusting them in their screwed up rationales.

How about the Arishok? Anders? How about  a majority of the people opposed to you and killed in the game? Unfortunately never played DA II because of an intense dislike of the combat in it from the demo and the art direction. Should have picked it up for $5 in the bargain bin when I had the chance at target but I really could not get into the arcade over the top flash over substance combat and know I would have struggled through the game and could not take it as seriously as I did DA:O.

As far as the whole "color" thing goes, Bioware's said a million times that the DAO/DA2 engine just did not handle particular skin tones well. I think this should be pretty obvious by now that it's legit. It's not some grand conspiracy to appease the masses.

As far as the rest, I'm somewhat alright with the whole deal if they'd just turn it down a couple of notches. I didn't even necessarily have problems with DA2's romances being playersexual (for the most part) except for the fact it feels like it's making things available to everyone so nobody can ever get locked out of anything. If they do the same tactic to say, combat, story, or difficulty to attract another fanbase (like the dreaded CoD crowd) you never hear the end of it. Funny how that works, isn't it?

At any rate, all I want out of it is for such things to feel more natural and less soapbox. "Anders" turned from a likable character with some legitimate issues into a preachy blowhard who handles the fact he's now gay (At least if you're Male Hawke, if you're Female Hawke it vanishes into the ether. Also funny how that works.) with all the subtlety of a hand grenade. It's not a character, it's someone shoving their viewpoint at me, as is made more clearly by both rejection options worded to make MHawke sound like it's the most disgusting thing he's ever heard of.

You can appeal to someone without coming off like you're trying to appeal to someone.

Fereldans get crapped on so much because they're a new relatively weak country with little say in the rest of the worlds politics and they just got their independance back from Orlais.

Arishok is far from being called a white male. Anders is just a misguided companion who already is seragated for being a mage on the ground of being dangerous. And we still have many people of diffenent sex, race and color trying to kill us.... From DAO. You're clearly jumping to conclusions.

Keith David has a strong resonant voice but largely unaccented in the ME games. Sound like his natural voice most of the time.

Who cares?

I'd rather they make a good story.

A LOT of people care, and there is literally no reason at all why a good story cannot include a well-rounded mix of characters of various ethnicities and sexualities and genders, and why the stories of all those individual characters cannot also be told well, as opposed to being a stereotype or a problematic trope.

A. Never looked at the actors past work to see he talks exactly the same accent as he does in ME.
B. The ME:REVELATION makes i a point he speaks in an American accent.

Funny, being that we claerly still don't know what it is. Hence the term ethnicity ambigiuos.
