As a side note, I noticed that neither the Heavy Barrel or Piercing mod are a melee mod. This disturbs me.

This. Melee mod is quite nice on the shadow.Tokenusername wrote...
Sometimes you need to modify your strategy for the faction you're fighting. Rippaz are heavy on armor and light on shields. Phasic is really not the best ammo for them, but against the Geth would be more helpful.

I like it on the Saboturian... Sabotage then shoot = dead shielded mook. Geth Engi is good too... Overload then shoot = a dead shielded mook, and so does shoot followed by Overload for FE.
You get the idea...

I never really the Executioner Pistol. But it looks great for a alt-sniper!
It's really good if you can look past trying to make it a OSK weapon. People call it a pocket Widow, but... It's really not.
I like to think of it as a tool that cap wipe out an entire shield, health or armor bar on whatever I shoot it at. If I overload first and expose the health, I can wipe out all the health with the pistol. If I shoot first I can wipe out all the shields with the pistol and finish up with a power/combo.
By itself it's pretty lame IMO except on the Destroyer (who gets two shots).. but used with powers, it's a pretty good weapon. I really like that it doesn't need a piercing mod at all...

No OSK even on an infiltrator? Yuck.

If you use it on a Tactical cloaked, post-warp Huntress with Warp ammo, it is pretty good. (TC for the warp, no weapon damage boost on her)

I feel like I remember seeing somewhere that the Executioner has built-in piercing, or maybe it was a multiplier vs. armor. Cyonan will be here sometime today to straighten this out.

I would've used a melee mod with the Shadow, and probably a power mag also with AP rounds for piercing.

It does have built in piercing...

Yeah, I was gonna say, it has innate piercing. If so, isn't there some sort of unspoken rule about not using AP mods and/or AP ammo on weapons like that because the mods actually end up reducing the piercing because of weird math stuff that I don't understand but the spreadhseet-making data-miners do? Or something to that effect?
I haven't had coffee yet and woke up with a headache, so my brain's a bit fuzzy. Someone help me out on the above, because I know I'm trying to remember something to that effect... or maybe it was just not to mix AP ammo with an AP modded weapon...

I don't think it reduces that. The piercing distance is always additive. If you both use ap and piercing mod on a gun the damage bonus on ap ammo wouldn't be applied.
If I recall correctly.
For innate piercing it has 0.5 meters (I think, again).

Weapons with innate or ammo-based penetration don't get reduced damage when shooting through objects. When you introduce a piercing mod, you also introduce damage penalty. The penetration distances stack, however.
