What mods and ammo do I use on the Executioner Pistol?

Concerning Piercing Mods on Innate Penetration Weapons:

Weapons with innate penetration (eg Executioner, Javelin, Tyhpoon) do full damage when penetrating, regardless of what Mods or Ammo you put on them.

Normal hitscan weapons (those with no innate penetration) will do full damage when penetrating using only AP/Drill Ammo consumables. This is true only if no AP Mods are equipped on the weapon.

Equipped with any AP Mod, normal hitscan weapons (with no innate penetration) will deal reduced damage when penetrating, according to the lightest penalty among the equipped AP mods. This damage penalty from the Mod will apply even when using AP/Drill Ammo.

Also, the distance and Armor ignore stacks additively.


As for the OP's question... my suggestion would be to use a different gun, preferably a shotgun so you can take the SG Omniblade.

As Megabeast said, the Executioner really shines when used to kill an enemy after stripping their Shields with Overload/ED, or using the gun to strip Shields and following up with a power such as Throw.

Note: While there's no downsides to equipping an AP Mod on an innate penetration weapon, all these weapons except the Typhoon can do thousands of damage per shot. The Armor ignore effect is therefore of very little value on these guns (it adds something like 2% to your damage, maybe), so you should really only take it if you want the extra penetration distance.

Well, that's precicely the reason I use both penetration mods on my Javelin. :wub:

Were you using the executioner as a primary weapon or as a long range sidearm to partner a omni-blade shotgun?

For pure long range work I'd use it with a scope and damage barrel, with phasic ammo (if playing with biotic teammates), or with disruptor ammo to prime for tech bursts, which can be detonated with electric slash in situations where using shadow strike isn't a good idea.

I wouldn't use it as a primary on the N7 shadow, she really wants a shotgun omniblade.

It's decent as a primary on casters though, a 66606 AssAdept, for example.

I usually only use it for sniping so like Rotword I use a scope and headhsot mutiplier. It may not be the greatest of all guns but I like the way it handles, the sound etc.
