Question of ethics to Bryan:
If a player mods the game to give ZERO credits, ZERO XP, ZERO progress towards challenges/achievements, and the game is completely separated from the general public, do you/bioware/EA still have a problem with them modding?
Because the halo games have started to allow players to run private games with customised settings. with progress to unlocks disabled/minimised, to allow for such things as this.
I remember playing altered firefight games on halo reach set to crazy hard settings with friends just for fun.
Bungies attitude was: If no-ones being hurt, and people aren't gaming the system for quicker unlock progression, what's the harm?
Of course, a customised console game mode is a little different to a modded PC game, since the PC format allows for much larger scope for altering the core game.
I mention this because it might be worth allowing a custom game mode in future games for precisely this kind of thing, one which allowed players to sacrifice all progress towards unlocks in exchange for freedom to alter the game.
There's always a percentage of gamers who want to play games in crazy-hard mode, look at the halo LASO (Legendary All Skulls On) videos on youtube for example.
Just so we're clear, I'm an XBOX gamer, so I CAN'T mod, so I don't have any vested interests here, I just think there should be a distinction between cheating and modding. They aren't the same thing.
