Is there any way to actually accomplish a way in game to do this? Like making a transparant LI the Catalyst?

This and any other important NPCs like Saren (especially when talking about synthesis), Eve and TIM.Mcfly616 wrote...
I'd change the appearance to look like my dead squadmates, and lastly changing to my LI before I make the choice. (Sort of like how the Leviathan communicates through memories of people you've met)

So why exactly do people think the Catalyst would be better if it looked like dead squadmates?
People are gleefully eager to announce how much they despise him, gleefully eager to announce how wrong and stupid he is, and yet they think that giving him a trustworthy voice would be an improvement?
A simple question: Do people want the Catalyst to be wrong, or to be right?

But this whole 'child idea' is based on that one single moment, where the child refuses your help. It's trying to force an emotional connection, while it might succeed at that with some players. Former squadmates have a much better succes at this, because those squadmates were part of the story before.

Problem is that former squadmates can be both loved and hated by player and in second case they would be more probably dead. Virmire choice is probabbly best example of case when new Catalyst woudl b someone you donť like or donť care about him.
