And that explanation for Garrus cracked me up.

But she was made as a femCloud. Accept it, then your relationship can move further. And if it doesn't, Tali will still be there for you. I see no problem here.
not true. Not true! I'm not listening!

You shut your whorish mouth Eternal, she's basically just Russian Twilight Sparkle. Like how Traynor is British Twilight Sparkle.
...what? you? A Tali fan? How could this have happened? I raised you better than that, son.

Welcome to BSN, you'll never find a larger bunch of crazies who are okay with it outside of the Sonic fanbase.
LOL
Yes.
Between these two communities, and a certain other one that makes its home in Off-topic, I wonder if I'm a little too close to furries and what that says about me...

Personally, I find the attachement to Tali kind of interesting. Kind of puts a dent in my theory that people are getting attached to game characters simply because games are getting more cinematic and realistic. Tali doesn't exactly fit the bill. She has to convey things with the suit/helmet on. It's a purely emotional/personality based experience. Nothing that triggers subtle facial cues or whatnot.
Anyways, as long as you're not building a shrine or anything, I guess it's not so bad
There was nothing emotional about it.
She had a nice @ss and people imagined a face that was equally good.
It really isn't anymore complicated than that. If she looked like 300 pounds of whale blubber crammed into that cat suit, the words 'Tali' and 'romance' would have only been mentioned in jest.
To be fair to Talimancers however, the fans of every other LI are equally shallow.

There's no cynicism in appreciating beauty. Quite the opposite.

I will disagree. I think her character being written in a way that can be unkindly described as "nerdbait" has a lot to do with it as well.

I'd have to disagree too. Sure, her looks were great, but I doubt that alone is enough to build a charater, especially one with so much emotional attachment (in my case, anyway). Taking every other female squadmate from the game, nay, every female in the TRILOGY, they all had bodies that would fit a model - hell, stick a sultry voice on Dr. Chakwas, and you'd still find no complaints there. My point being though, I never invetsed myself in any other characters on that basis; instead, there were ever some that actively deterred me for it.
Take Miranda Lawson for example (and I'm speaking purely subjectively here, from my playthroughs - no doubt she's a great catch for someone else). She had all those curves in all the right places, with the voice of Hannah McKay to boot, but for all of that, her personaliy just didn't do it for me, she seemed pretty ****. Yeah, I can understand her NOW, after her loyalty missions, etc., but at the end of the day, she just ain't for me.
Tali however, had a personality that made me giddy, that accent, her story was compelling, and her character progression just spoke to me (her drunk scenes were also some of my favourite). I don't know, perhaps it's because my girlfriend's Lithuanian, maybe East Europeans just get my motors running, but aesthetics or no, I'd pick Tali every time.

I think that you need to be at least a third year veteran to be even discussing this topic sensibly!
Then again, the day that the BSN becomes sensible is the day pigs fly!

Ok, maybe I exaggerated a little bit.
A nice body (at least from the knees to the neck) might not have been the only reason, but it was a very large one. I always got a chuckle out of threads where Talimancers claimed the Talimance was 'deeper' than the others because it was based on personality. If she had a Broodmother's body in ME1 no one would have petitioned for her to be an LI, and if her post-romance reveal had been a tentacle-monster people would have raged.
My reaction whenever a Talimancer claims it was only about her personality.
The only 'mance where people can maybe claim it was all about personality was Garrus, because he looks like an Emu. I say maybe because its also possible that they are furries.
