Or maybe it actually is. A PS3/360 costs about $400 in Brazil. A decent PC? Over a grand.
[/quote]
a grand on what?
I spent $1200 for my very first PC. That's because I didn't own one. So I had to get speakrs/monitor/mouse/keyboard etc...
The only thing really you need to upgrade is the wear tares of things. For me, my Hard Drive was making noises after 5yrs of usage. So that's no problem...by then you can get even a better hard drive. SATA's are nice since you don't have to worry about the wait on rebooting your comp for Updates
Secondly Graphics card replacement in 5yrs..........is again what the same as a console? You already have everything else...unless you want to replace EVERYTHING. Which I don't need too (nor see the reason why too)
I'm just speaking from my own experience and my friends. We're not PC fanatics. If you need a State of the Art PC for whatever reason for.........then I understand the $$$.
But I'm just a PC gamer

How long til you need to upgrade that graphics card?
I got it $400 2yrs ago. I won't need to worry about this graphic card being updated till........probably 4-5yrs
So you have to pay console price twice at least twice a generation...interesting.
And that's JUST the graphics card. A CPU will cost, maybe 200 bucks for 5 years.

To be brief, on a cabinet and everything that goes inside it. Mouse, monitor, keyboard and speakers were not added to that.

It's more expensive, there's no way around that.
Then you're spending money on the wrongs things. Get someone who knows how to build a good gaming RIG who knows what needs to be updated and not. There's hardwares that you don't need to buy that's going to save you $$$. Sorry if you're spending a $1000 on a gaming pc every 4+yrs.........something ain't right at least I never had too
plus make sure you know how to shop online. Deals like Newegg is a great place

I'll give it to PC gamers, they're dedicated. It doesn't sound very convenient or sensible, though.
It's plenty convenient. Sensible, I use the PC for other things, not just games.
But I do agree that if all you're worried about is gaming--get a console.

I'm not spending money on the wrong things. I've been doing this for years, I know how to buy. It's still more expensive.

Yeah, I just use my PC to run the internet and word. As far as convenience goes, I just mean in terms of installation and things of that nature. Like needing to install games if you go from computer to computer. It usually doesn't take more than 15 minutes, and it's only one installation, but that doesn't change the fact that I could just pop in a game with a console.

Yeah. You need to buy a 400 dollar graphics card twice in the window of 5 years. The last gen lasted around 8 years.

Yeah, for your card alone. How much for your CPU? 200? Plus your MB and RAM and hard drive (s) and power supply?
And you're going to have to upgrade your CPU and your graphics card before the console generation is out--which means you'll probably need a new MB and new RAM.
It's more expensive, man. No way around it.

I can't imagine why you would go from computer to computer. Just upgrade. And you have a point on the installs, but that's only a few minutes.

How much freedom do you have in modding a game like AC4 for instance?

I'm sure you could if you WANTED to, but I personally don't know of any mods for games like that.

Nah, I just mean if a friend wants to check out a Steam game that I have, then I can show him on his computer.

How else do you expect me to be able to brag about my video card having better specs than the Xbox One?
Although in reality anybody claiming one is a "superior choice" to the other is an idiot. The superior choice is that one that you personally prefer gaming on.

Oh, I see. Indeed.
Though to be fair, there are plenty of LPs on Youtube for just about any game out there, and Steam *usually* has gameplay-esque pictures, if not videos. It's more combersome, though, for sure.

You make a lot back in sales. Digital content is much cheaper. And lets be honest here, a console generation shouldn't last 8 friggin years when the rest of the tech industry is zooming past it.
