No. 3 is "Can I bang everyone, then kill everyone?", and No. 4 is "Can I kill everyone, then bang them?"

I hope one of our companions breaks the rules and we have to decide whether to execute her/him or not.
David Gaider! Imagine the feels you will touch if that companion was an LI!

Dude. Sine Baldur's Gate all we've ever done is blow things up and beat people up. If I want to play as the Tywin Lannister of Dragon Age when ruling over a powerful force with military and political influence, I expect to have the tools to utilize such a persona.
If a Lord wants to betray our alliance, I don't want to say "oh it's cool, no worries." How the hell am I supposed to keep order in a medieval world by being mister nice guy to backstabbers and traitors? When the sword rules, what else is left but blood?
Diplomacy is an option my character would prefer; but to set an example, it must be done.

DAI isn't an RTS. This force seems to be largely for security, to guard or protect things like keeps, forts, and Villages like Crestwood. We won't be able to use it to conquer countries. Seems to me DAI is going to be largely diplomacy, influence, and some espionage and economics. All the conquest stuff won't work. Being able to kill will have consequences and unnecessary killing will have bigger consequences . Some players I predict will be upset with the consequences and will come storming into the BSN to raise a ruckus over it. They can't say they weren't warned about it.
shrugs.

Exactly. My previous example was for the lolz. Killing for the sake of killing is stupid. But if I need to instill fear, or if I have to punish a crime, then by hell I expect to do so. I don't want DA to be a "all bark and no bite" game. Let me witness first hand the consequences of my actions, and that includes looking into the eyes of a person I'm about to serve 14th century justice too. It might sound sadistic, but it really engages the player into the narrative and character when he sees the "reality" of the situation he's just caused.
As for those players, I won't be one of them. If I make a political blunder, I'll live with it. I'll enjoy it as a player for its intricacies, I'll applaud BioWare for biting my ass harder than a Great White because I lopped of my companion's head and now his lover hanged herself in spite of me (or the other way round. He hanged himself for her.)
If they do come storming in, **** 'em. If BioWare are going to worry about backlash from every little consequence they do then they might as well drop the entire 'consequence' thing together. Anyone can hate the Red Wedding, for example, but no one can argue against its genius. Anyone who does are a bunch of whiners and they're looked down upon. In the end: they'll lose.
P.S
It must be a powerful force if it rose from the dust and is now operating independently to secure order. It's not working for any government lord or other organization. It sounds a little like the Knights Templar really. Our 'security' really feels more of a subtle way of saying "you're ****ed if your gone. You owe us." Hell, no it's sounding like a bloody Mafia.

They're not real people . They'll just rebel, you'll kill them and get stuck with the consequences.
This gradiose thing probably won't set well with your party members and they'll try to kill you and make things worse.
I guess I shouldn't be so dogmatic, let others play their game and if I'm right it'll come out.

LOL, they actually did an episode about psychopathic gamers. Two guys kidnapped people a bunch of people and attached shock colors to them to try to force them to be "real life" gamer avatars for them in a real life first person shooter in a maze they designed.
It was such a hilariously stupid plan. I remember thinking "worst. controls. EVER."
Imagine how much less fun Mass Effect would have been if the player had no direct control over Shepard and could only get him or her to do anything by shouting threats at Shepard's family.

What is it with video-games that people can't take seriously? Yes, their video-game characters, does that mean they should suffer boring characterisation because their predecessors were all about jumping on bricks and eating mushrooms? A BioWare game is an interactive story, and so I expect a story with really good characters. 8/10 times, I get that.
If a political setting doesn't allow you to make hard decisions, like say, eliminating a threat/enemy/rival through various means, then why the hell let us lead?
If we're allowed to sacrafice a bloody town in order to save our keep, then why the hell are you going on about the consequences of execution? Hell, fear might have nothing to do with it. It's Thedas, they'll probably use it as a means to entertain.
P.S Video-game characters have made me cry more than any other medium.

I guess role playing is role playing, although Dirty Harry does say a man's got to know his limitations . Varric didn't like Crestwood being sacrificed , too many of those and he'll rebel. Your lieutenant in the Pax Video didn't like the wounded being left behind . Too many of those and maybe troops start to desert, or you lose recruits. Role playing aka I'm tough and stern might be appealing, but I expect it will come back to bite people . shrugs.

Despite the minority who will obviously bash the doors of the BSN and wallow in their rage as they lament on Varric not sleeping with them over Crestwood, I've come to notice that a lot of people like games with 'balls.'
Personally, if I am going to be Walder Frey, I deserve anything that bites me in the ass. The same goes if I am going to be Ned Stark. If I make bad decisions, I deserve the consequences and I'll enjoy seeing that BioWare actually thought of all this. I'll applaud the game for its ingenuity and I'll come over here and give the devs a thumbs up.
I understand it doesn't work that way for everyone. But seeing how most people here (and everywhere else) is on BioWare's arse about C&C, I expect most people will enjoy the repercussions of horrible choices.

Well who doesn't like a good game of "F****, Marry, Kill"?
I want to be able to bang and kill at the same time.
In fact my fat elf can bang and eat his victims alive simultaneously...
And I think I'll stop there before Gaider kicks me off the site forever for being too disturbing.
