Does anyone actually hope the Maker is a demon or something malevolent?

I'd rather have a maker that calls his chantry out for their BS

Now that would be a twist

It's every pro-mage's dream come true.

I don't see how the issue of the Maker's existence is even relevant to the mage debate.

The nature of the Maker is bragging rights for some group of people on here.

Eh.  I was generalizing.  Anti-Chantry would be more accurate and again....generalizing any time I say EVERY or ALL THE TIME with most subjects.

Dear lord no! That'd just be some sort of awful concept meant to demonize (literally!) a religion. Stick to human conundrums that provide moral/ethical dilemmas where one can see a religion as good or bad, not throwing in some "We're worshiping a Demon!" nonsense in there.

FFX is perhaps the ONLY game that did a concept somewhat like this that I can enjoy because 1) they did it well and 2) it was more worshipping a man who essentially did turn himself into a god, and ended up losing himself in the process. FFX put some complexity into their story.

Making the Maker a Demon is too simplistic, not to mention problematic as it'd raise the question why this particular demon can create **** and others can't if he's just like the rest. Can't call him a Demon if he's not... well... a demon.

IF the Maker is shown to exist, I expect Bioware will leave room for players to form their own opinions about him/her/it, just like they have for literally every other thing. Even if they don't, players aren't obliged to accept Bioware's moral position.

As far as I'm concerned, an omnipotent creator who would look on the current state of Thedas and do nothing is unquestionably evil, regardless of how sympathetically Bioware attempts to portray them.

I completely agree.

I say the maker should never even be confirmed to exist or not. Making it a demon would also be a dull way to take the series, just another dime-a-dozen darkedgy plot twist meant to try and shock the audience, but really just cheapens the entire lore.

I would prefer it to be more complex than that.

Though it might be interesting to do something that was somewhat related but different.....the maker is child like or maybe completely unaware of things being created, its simply the nature of its existence to cause things to come about and has no personal relationship with them or their designs.

The only thing that would make me care about the presence of the Maker in this series is if he was a boss fight. Beyond that, he or she is free to stay a plot device for religious characters as far as I'm concerned.

No, I'm not an atheist projecting my hate into the game setting.

Leave it ambiguous. Next topic.

Maybe Entropic could be an atheist who doesn't project their hate into the setting.

Truth be told, I've seen far too many assuptions of atheists being made and thier opinions being attacked to not see where Plantiff is coming from.

Lol, I'll freely admit I'm not--not an atheist, I mean.

But i've seen this come up time and time again, and it's by people with bias.

I don't think I've EVER seen a topic here that said, "Does anyone actually hope the Maker is real? I sure do, because F elves!"

No, because the God-figure in every third RPG on the planet is evil. Seriously.
