Because "mundane" or "non-mage" is so much better.
Why should the rest of the world be defined by mages and in comparison to mages?

wha... what?

That's right, the Templars also help prevent the extinction of not just dwarven culture, but also their entire race by buying their products.

Lyrium isn't the only product that they sell. You're suggesting that if it wasn't for the Templars that the Dwarves would go into bankrupcy. In fact that theirs a mage in Circle tower in DAO who provides fianical income to the dwarves with his Lyrium smuggling operation. It goes both ways you know :)

Ah, but Templars require more Lyrium to fuel their powers. In addition, without the Templars, there would be less Lyrium being consumed anyway. The Circle system benefits the Dwarves through its existence as a market for Lyrium used by both Templars and Mages.

How did I know that would go over your head?
You have a problem with using the term "normal" to refer to those bereft of magic because it implies mages are abnormals.
I have a problem with the terms "mundane" and "non-mage" because it defines the rest of the world by the standards of mages(mundanes) and in comparison to mages (non-mages).

Mages help fund organized crime while Templars buy a legalized product through the proper channels and help put bread on the table of honest dwarven merchants.
Gotcha.

So mages endorse illegal smuggling in Orzammar?

If the Templars stopped buying lyrium than many honest dwarven merchants would go out of business.

Do you hate dwarves? Small business? Or both?

Of course.

Peasant 1: What do I get out of this Inquisition?

Inquisitor: You get your life.

Peasant 2: Well, we already got that! Can we trade that in for something else?

Peasant 1: Hey!

This is exactly why I am hoping that I can liberate my Inquistion from both of these factions and march my Free Men army across Thedas.

Peasants want a chance to improve your lot in life? Join up!

The Inquisitor wants YOU!

Gotcha.

Orzammar also sells to the Imperium, and has done so legally and profitably for thousands of years. If templars stopped going to Orzammar to fuel their addiction, the dwarves would still trade with mages.

True, but that would still be a major cut in their profits and the Imperium may not be in the world forever.

No matter what nations or political structures exist, there will always be a demand for lyrium from mages and enchanters. Given that the Chantry monopolises the purchase of lyrium from Orzammar in nations it influences, the trade could well become more profitable if exposed to unrestricted supply and demand.

The Chantry still orders quite a lot of Lyrium for boht Mages and Templars. Without the Circle system, demand will certainly be less. Mages might consume less as well as the Harrowing will no longer be required.

I just read the "Which country do you think is worse" thread and I thought "They are both horrible. There should be a peasant uprising in both of those countries" and then I saw this thread. So yes. Yes I support this.

Then comes the Reign of Terror... :innocent:

Oh, and a short man who manages to become Emperor and conquer half of Thedas, but fails because he tried to conquer Ferelden during Winter.
