2.9 Awakened Collector
Dark Sphere: 4b, 5b, 6a
Seeker Swarm: 4b, 5a
Dark Channel: 3 ranks
Vengeful Ancient: 4b, 5a,6a
Ancient Warrior: 4a, 5a, 6a
Venom: ULM / High-Caliber Barrel
Gear: Geth Scanner, Shotgun Amp, Warp Rounds or Incendiary, Power Amplifier
A.K.A. The Big Blipper. This build makes full use of the Ascension Stance and the power bonusses that come with it. Your main source of damage will be your Dark Sphere and your gun, BE's are just a side effect mostly triggered by your teammates. Before every wave, activate your Ascension Stance. It'll last for roughly 5 Dark Spheres. Reactivate after the glow wears off. Try to find a corner to cover you when doing so and keep in mind that you can cancel the animation halway through by dodging as soon as you see the Swarms appearing around you. Keep your Venom charged all the time. Dark Channel gives you some extra DoT and another, albeit comparatively weak, primer for your teammates.
The optimal pattern for your attacks after hitting Ascension Stance: Cast a Dark Sphere (keep in mind that it sticks to solid objects), throw out a Dark Channel for good measure, double tap your Venom into the Sphere & then detonate the Sphere. Double tap enemies in between cooldowns. If stuff gets close or you want to finish something off, consider throwing a Seeker Swarm. Keep in mind that you should reactivate those as soon as possible to keep that DR to dampen the increased damage taken from Ascension Stance.
The explosion from your Dark Sphere will do massive spike damage in a tight area, it'll probably take a while to get a good feeling for when to detonate to hit specific targets, but once you have it down, the results will be quite ridiculous. You'll rely on your gun for a good amount of the time too, so make that stagger work for you to keep you alive in between cooldowns.
Not stratopproved, but still pretty devastating.

It's a stupid idea, but I sometimes spec out of seeker swarms completely. If I ever spec into them, I never use them for anything other than the damage reduction, so I keep them on me at all times.
My preferred build for level 20 is like this: dark sphere 6 (damage, damage over time, damage over time), seeker swarms 5 (damage reduction on rank 5 is essential), fitness 3, dark channel 6 (damage, recharge, pierce), passives (power damage, power damage, weapon damage). If you feel comfortable, you can skip fitness entirely and give yourself an extra 10% damage reduction from seeker swarms.
A lot of people like to use the particle rifle on him, I don't. I use a collector smg with magazine upgrade and piercing barrel and an acolyte (heavy barrel and lightweight mod) always with warp rounds. This way, at least I can cast dark sphere more frequently, but even at 195% cooldown, his power recharge times aren't that great.
Here's how I play him: cast dark sphere into a group, immediately hit something with dark channel, then detonate dark sphere. You want to do that all as rapidly as you can, and just keep repeating that sequence every time your dark sphere becomes available to use. This kind of playstyle is extremely effective on tight maps, you can do a lot of damage to spawns with dark sphere/dark channel/collector smg with warp rounds. The collector smg with warp rounds on this character absolutely melts armoured enemies that are also taking damage from dark channel and dark sphere at the same time.
If you're interested in a video gameplay, I strongly recommend Invaderone's youtube channel, he has 2 different builds for this character. But like I said, this is a character that has many different builds and can be played in many different ways, with different weapons. His weapon damage is really great, he kind of needs it, because you'll be relying on your weapon to do a lot of damage. Dark sphere is really OP, and dark channel is great, but his weapon damage is also very high.
As soon as you get the hang of casting dark sphere > dark channel > detonate dark sphere, you'll be tearing everything apart. I prefer the collector smg over the particle rifle because it allows you to spam dark sphere more frequently. But you should let your own personal taste dictate which weapon you use.

I don´t use Ascension stance, but my build is also basically about Dark Sphere and good weapon. Cast DS, cast DC. If it looks good, I throw swarms here and there for small biotic explosions, but mostly I keep them up and leave the sphere running and shoot whatever is near. I don´t detonate sphere often, unless it looks like it could take down several enemies at once or if I need to quickly dispose of some danger(like phantoms dragoons mix ahead during drone etc.) Strong weapon is important as you shoot a lot. I use Paladin with warp ammo.
My build
6/6/3/6/5
Dark sphere for radius/dot/unstable dark sphere
Swarms for slow/damage reduction/swarm count
3 points in DC
Damage and capacity/power damage/power damage in passives
Durability and shield recharge in fitness

@Leland; That build actually sounds really interesting and I love the venom, so I might give this a shot first, because it's totally different from how I've been playing him. I actually use ascension mode quite a lot now anyway, so the transition shouldn't be too hard.
@XFG; Yeah, thanks for the gameplay tips dude. What I'm starting to see is I'm not using anywhere enough dark sphere.
@Slarian; Thanks for the links. I've checked a couple of the more recent ones, but I may have a look at some of the older ones.
@Dida; I think I might be a bit too scrubby to play a no-fitness build on platinum to be honest. But I do have plenty of cyclonic IVs, so I might give this play-style a shot. He does seem like the best adept to extract every drop of offensive power available.

Yeah, I remember I asked you about this in another thread and my build is almost the same as yours now, except I go 4 in fitness and a in DC. But the way I played, it just didn't seem like I was doing a lot of damage on platinum. It was good for gold, but I don't think this playstyle really suits me on platinum, unless I go no fitness and spam DC more often...Aetika wrote...
I was typing some post, but Leland wrote it better then I could.

Sphere, DC and start throwing seeker swarms.
One thing's for certain, this character has a crap ton of combinations to play around with.

Cast dark sphere towards a group > dark channel one enemy > detonate sphere when close to enemies > shoot with warp rounds IV, rinse and repeat.
SS for DR. At times, I use SS for some BEs when I need CC and DS is on cooldown. I prefer him as a pure adept and not a biotic soldier w/PPR.

@ Kinom; The fact that there are so many different builds is probably the main reason I've never gotten the most out of him. Thanks for the tank option, but wouldn't that be full fitness?
For full-on tank, definitely full fitness, but I'd change to a PPR or CAR for that. Personally, I suck as a full tank character which is why I go for "semi-tank" and 4 in fitness.

Here's your cycle:
1. Cast Dark Sphere at the crowd
2. Cast Dark Channel on something in the crowd
3. Detonate Dark Sphere
4a. Shoot your gun with Warp ammo at all the primed targets
4b. Throw Seeker Swarms at the primed targets, one swarm per target and set off a bunch of BEs.
Another major thing to remember is to hide your cooldowns in the Dark Sphere detonation cooldown. So for instance, if you need to re-cast Swarms, you throw out the Sphere, then cast Swarms, then detonate the Sphere... This will mean you only incur one 7 second cooldown where you would normally have to have 2 of them.
Same thing with Dark Channel... Cast the Sphere, cast Dark Channel, detonate the Sphere... Viola, no Dark Channel cooldown... Let it rip with your gun or Swarms.
Cooldown managment is the key to really playing him well. Or... You could spec full weapon damage, pack a PPR and make the most interesting, individual caster in the whole game into a soldier, and never really learn to play him at all (which is what half of BSN does).

@Kinom; I also suck with full tank builds! XD
@megabeast; appreciate your advice, especially the tips on hiding the cooldowns IN the DS detonation sequence. I always muddled up when I was supposed to detonate. In all honesty, I want to master the power build because I agree that he is a totally unique power caster and it'll be a lot more interesting to play him that way. My manifest is still not where it should be for a weapons build anyway.
Thanks everyone! I've got plenty to try, but feel free to leave more builds and advice. I'll be back later.

@mega: Maybe give him your build?
I've gone through a bunch of them... But I think no fitness is best. All his powers and passives are simply too good to give up. I can see 4/4 Dark Channel/Fitness being good too. I have since gone 6/6/6/6/6 with the guy.. and it's absurdly powerful and tanky.
Just make sure you spec Dark Sphere for Radius/Cooldown/Radius so you get 9 meters of badass damage/priming. The rest is pretty common sense...

- Fire dark sphere
- fire dark channel
- detonate sphere
- fire your seeker swarm, detonating a biotic explosion.
- Rinse and repeat
I use this spec, usually. Other specs that have worked for me: weapons, radius, dark channel w/ slow & biotic explosion

Use Dark Sphere then Dark Channel, detonate Dark Sphere to set it on cooldown ignoring Dark Channel's cooldown then shoot with Particle Rifle.
If there are a bunch of mooks around or Phantoms, switch to the Acolyte and repeat the process from above. The Acolyte has the Power Magnifier and will increase the damage from Dark Sphere.
Usually you don't want to use the Seeker Swarms, but you can throw one if you want another stagger after Dark Sphere. Then if I use one, I usually use the others as well so I can reset it and use Ascension Stance to cancel the animation.

2. Throw Dark Sphere/Dark Channel
3. Shoot anything that gets primed
Boom, there you go.

I used to run a 5/5/6/6/4 for a mix of biotic soldier and caster but have been messing around with a fully specced ascension stance and I reccomend trying some builds suggested that utilze it.
