Which country is worse.

A country I know nothing about, or that other country I know nothing about?

Yes I have heard stuff about Orlais and Tivinter, but never been to either nation.
Maybe Inquisition might give me a taster.

Tevinter has way more slaves and treats them much worse. It's power struggles are much more brutal and it's disenfranchised underclass is much larger. This notion that Tevinter is better becuase it's "honest" about how horrible it is is silly. All the bad things Orlais has ever done Tevinter has done worse.

Like I said they are both bad,however Orlais tries to pretend they are good when really the Orlesian Empire is Tevinter's evil but two faced sibling.

No. One is bad. One is worse. They are not the same. Being more "honest" means nothing. Tevinter is worse than Orlais because they do much more bad things.

Public use of blood magic in Tevinter. Orlais's privest use of blood magic for the noble mage elite.
Both have a history of invasion and subjugation. Both took a dup of the elfs.
Tevinter has a templar army controlled by a currupt circle of mages. Orlais has the chantry in their pocket which is currupt and has an army of templers.

While the Tevinter Imperium is a corrupt mage-ocracy where might is right, Orlais is ruled by a noble class that invents systems of law / heredity to consolidate power (like in the real world). One may seem more evil, because blood magic and fantastical things like that seem more evil than corrupt nobles taking advantage of peasants, but at the root you have a few corrupt people with disproportionate power. They both would be horrible places to live and acts of desperation would be more common than acts of kindness.

Which is worse? Magical oppression or physical oppression? I dunno, in both cases people's lives are ruined or destroyed for personal gains.

Tevintor has laws. It just that the most powerful can walk around them. Just like Orlies. And Tevinter raping slave does not make Orlais better, which allows the noblity to do so with their pesents. They are both equally bad.
Both magical and phyical oppression is equilly bad. And it not like the nobles in Orlias don't have mages hiding as nobles that miss use there magic.

They aren't even. Tevinter has so many slaves the Imperium would collapse without them. That is not true for Orlais. In Tevinter every non mage is part of the lower classes. Magisters often kill their slaves to perform blood magic because blood and death is benefical to them. There is no such equivilent in Orlais. The codex entry on salvery even mentions that those sent to Orlais to become servants are lucky because they are usally treated gently.

The Imperium is undergoing a centuries long decline and is mired in decadance and corruption. Orlais is experiencing a cultural renaissance under Celene where education and the arts are emphasized and anti-slavery laws are being more enforced. The Imperial Chantry is more directly tied to the state than the White Chantry is. And the White Chantry's templars don't act as an army unless there is an Exalted March, which is rare.

Tevinter's history of conquest outstrips's Orlais' by far. The elves and their culture suffered far greater at the hands of the Imperium than they did at Orlais.

The Grand Game in Orlais are governed by the appearance of honor and thus has to abide by certain rules. In the Imperium power struggles are less restricted and governed by might makes right. Magisters forces will openly attack eachother to gain more slaves or prestige. The entire Imperium has a might males right culture.

Orlais is French ergo must be worst than the fantasy Rome of Tervinter.

I think that they're both awful, but Tevinter is worse. In both countries the one at power (magisters, nobles, chevaliers) have enourmous (if not unlimited) power over the common folks, but Tevinter has a system completely based on slavery (if it'll collapse, Tevinter will follow), that lead them to directly go and take innocent people in other countries, or buy them from slavers of other countries. Orlais as slaves (covered as 'servants'), but they are far less, they don't hunt people in other countries. Not to mention being used in blood magic esperiments and eventually be sacrificed.
Other than that, the common population live in far worse condition in Tevinter than Orlais.

I just saw Catching Fire the other day and lordy are there some parallels between Orlais and the Capitol of Panem. Sort of.
