Just reread it. It's as awful as it was the first time, but it seems the later iterations have gotten better. But there are two major wtfs in it that I just don't get.
1) The Kid AKA Rasa wants to get off her rock and asks to get a flight with the "old" Brooks. She refuses and is shot (literally) in the back by Rasa, where she dies. Then Rasa is shown entering her ship... "uhhh, what?" I know the narrative doesn't say she "CAN'T" fly a vehicle, but it seems pretty unlikely and just a dumb twist for the sake of having some sort of impactful moment. It's totally style over substance.
2) Cerberus stands for "something". Every time they talk about this it's like they're speaking in code-language. Why can't either of them talk about what Cerberus stands for when it's their main line of conversation. Rasa: "I heard Cerberus stands for something. I guess I wanna stand for something too" asd Hello, there! Why not just say it clearly instead? e.g."I heard Cerberus stands for the preservation and advancement of Humanity. I guess I want to stand for that too."
Even the cover says "Stand for something, join Cerberus".
It sounds superficial and dumb. Did Walters or whoever was the scriptwriter forget what the concept of Cerberus was? And how come every time a child enters MEU Mac wants it to be all omniscent. Some of the kid Rasa's dialogue feels too mature and almost omniscent for a child.
Two very dumb things about Foundation #1 I noticed
