It would be cool if we could modify the cabin to our tastes, ie pick the furniture style and so on, anyone else think so?

Devote resources to a good story.

Yes, I'm sure level designing and modeling resources will make a big difference in writing.

Devote resources to build good environments to tell the story in.

Better now? :P

They did that for Citadel DLC but I never used it.

Or they could use the resources put aside for MP to do it, if they done that for ME3 SP might have been alot better.

I just want better music. The cabin music in ME2 was fine. They just used tracks from ME1 and there were a number of those I liked. In ME3 you got some crap techno stuff that had no character at all.

^ That's true, actually, I don't remember any of the cabin music tracks being anything worthwhile. Fortunately, you don't really spend a lot of time up there unless you want to role-play or something :)

That topic has been covered a dozen times already: no ressources for the singleplayer game was transferred to the multiplayer part of the game. If the multiplayer had been cut, the guys simply would've worked on something other than ME3.

Interestingly, the lack of personalization for the cabin inspired me to go fire up Skyrim for another playthrough. Although the Hearthfire DLC homes are not as customizable as one would wish, I still enjoy decorating them with the various stuff I collect. (Although the grab function could be greatly improved. Trying to get an object into position can take FOREVER!)

Weren't you postulating that the single-player game would be improved if they didn't spend their resources on multiplayer? I don't see how else I can interpret your post.

No, that wouldn't make a lot of sense for a space craft. Assuming for a moment that the next protagonist also has a military background, it definitely wouldn't make sense for a warship. Warships are government property, not the personal property of their captains.

That isn't to say that the game couldn't have customizable living quarters. Just that if that was a feature, it would make more sense for a groundside apartment than the captain's quarters on a space ship.

I like that OP just assumes we'll get to fly around in another kind of Normandy ship. Maybe we won't even get to see even 3 planets. Who knows?! Maybe the main hub is the Citadel where you "pick a world" like in Mario. I'm assuming NextME will be significantly different in structure than ME Trilogy.

Yes I did postulate that, but I never said that resources were taken from SP to be used in MP, what I meant was that the resources spent on MP would have been better spent on SP.

Let the multiplayer team design the level layouts. They've shown a better talent for it then the SP team did.

I'd rather there not be a ship at all as I don't want Shepard 2.0 or Normandy 2.0 and so on and so on.

Don't you need space for a space opera?

Possible. Depends mostly on what the next game's premise and protagonist is. There's certainly a scenario where it would make sense.

Personally, I would be more interested in a ship progression than customization--upgrading your ship, or buying/unlocking better ones as you progress. Exploration is a significant part of the space opera genre, and upgrading a ship can help create a positive feedback loop to encourage that, along with an enjoyable and, if nothing else, visually satisfying progression system. This could also work for a shuttle or groundside vehicle, as opposed to a full spaceship--starting out with a civilian/miner rover and upgrading through the Mako to the Hammerhead, as an example.
