Ceramic and steel plates can stop modern rifle bullets, while no soft armor (which includes kevlar) can. Steel plates are still fairly popular even though most militaries use ceramic for their rifle-resistant armor. The codex specifies ME armor as being ceramic.

Due to weight issues.

Well, obviously ME's preeminent tech experts rely more on shields to keep safe, which is a totally unique idea.
Gtg, beat up some baddies with my monk.

Doesn't look like that's really improving with next-gen tech, either.

I suspect the Team Ninja situation was intentional, Ryse could be a genuine mistake. Which makes it worst. Like, the devs probably thought that's how breasts should move.

Are you magically able to divine what Reeger's suit and undersuit are made of, Steelcan? And the suits of the admirals?

they look pretty similar to me just changed the colors, and for some reason I don't think that the notoriously fragile quarians would skimp on the armor

You'd think Kal'Reegar would have an armored suit like Tali does, but nope

I always wish they would have kept the light/medium/heavy armor selections for ME2 and ME3.

The light armor was perfect for a "super soldier" type Shepard.
