Weird, I've never had death blow bugs in Skyrim, I love the Skyrim death blows <3 also the Fallout New Vegas ones and being able to blast off your opponent's legs and such. Having unarmed at 100 and doing a vats uppercut to someone and having their head explode off their body was priceless XD

Skyrim overdid it with too many deathblows/kill cameras. The slow motion when killing ogres in Origins was also annoying. Sometimes I just want to kill something and be on my merry way, not be bogged down by excessive scenes played a thousand times.

As long as they aren't all slow-mo mid fight again then yes.

I would love to see the running through with the sword w/shield push off, shield finish and decapitation return. The Orge deathblows, not so much. I'm on the fence on the dragon deathblow returning.

Keep them for the bosses and cutscenes. That means we won't have the 'BUT I DECAPITATED LELIANNA' arguement.

Or just disable them for NPCs with names.

Anyways, I think I remember the devs talking about kill moves. I'm not totally sure, but there's this:

The first time I saw a kill move was Alistair taking down the Ogre in the tower. My jaw was quickly made acquaintanced with the floor.

I'd love to see kill moves make a comeback, they make characters fighting look that much badass. :)

I like death blows from a theoretical perspective, but I think the implementation in Origins was bad because of the unpredictable amount of time required to kill an enemy; time which could be used to be more productive. At the very least, I want an auto pause option before a death blow, so I can choose whether or not to let the character consume the potentially extra time required to kill a person.

Frankly, I dislike the idea of finishing animations, too theatrical and often over-done to the point of looking comedic and remind me more of Power Ranger "moves".

The best finishing move in DA Origins was where Duncan killed Jory during the during the Joining ritual. It was used exactly once and never repeated. It was dramatic without being over the top like the multiple ogre kills in Origins, the hundreds decapitations against various humanoid creatures, or the cartoon-like slapping of bears and wolves heads around in an over-exaggerated animation.

I would prefer leaving the dramatic kills strictly in the realm of unique special events like I mentioned earlier.

The complaints regarding how the DAO finishing moves could be over the top and take too long are definitely valid. I don't want them to be flashy and over dramatic like that either.

I'd much prefer the Assassin's Creed approach. The killing blow is a quick stab through. I think it looks better, but I do admit it doesn't actually add anything from a gameplay perspective.

I didn't think that DA:O deathblows were over the top for the most part.

I really liked the shield finish:

And the run through with the sword and the push away with the shield:

Wasn't really too much to these. Only ones I thought were over the top were the non human kills (Orges & Dragons). Even the decapitations weren't that flashy.

Not a big fan of the quick time events in some situations, but I did love seeing the finishing blows in Origins. Maybe something between.

I'd like to see them back again. It's very satisfying when a deathblow is performed on a enemy who had been trash talking moments before.

They look nice, I guess, but I don't consider them a priority, and they seem to be a cause of consternation for anyone who thinks random decapitations should be canon.

Every time I play DA:O I strived for those finishers, Archdemon Finisher move, Flemeth used a finisher, all the ogres I encounter FINISHERS, The guardian of the sacred ashes I decapitated his ass, High dragons, used a finisher, Taliesen DECAPITATED, outlaws FINISHERS, Leliana DECAPITATED and every enemy I could perform any finisher on, got decapitated.

Yes. Bring back and expand on them.

This time have deathblows not just for melee attacks but for arrow/ranged and magic attacks as well.

It would be even better if there was an option to just turn of or set the frequency of deathblows.

DA2 had exploding people when they died..as though every enemy was rigged with some bomb or soemthing which was just weird.

Well since we have "Get Over Here !" chain pulls, mages casting spells by reading books in fights, bashing large metal gates with shields....I think having deathblows or finishing moves are justfiied. :wizard:

On one hand, I think deathblows are awesome. First time I killed an Ogre with a deathblow I cheered outloud that it was awesome. At least once I got Alistair to deathblow an Ogre on one side of me while Zevran deathblowed an Ogre on the otherside while I decapitated some fool in the middle and that was pure awesome....

But overall, they did slow down combat esp since most of the time I ran as a dagger rogue. With my build, it lived to backstab kill very quickly. It backstabbed all the things. BACKSTAB! BACKSTAB! BACKSTAB! KILL! KILL! KILL! KI.... no wait, let. me. slooooooowly. cut. this. guys. head. off. UGH.

I like deathblows but only the short ones like Leliana chopping heads.
Do not include long deathblows unless it is a boss fight.

I'm against deathblows on nameless Red Templar #47, but absolutely for deathblows against boss enemies. The dragon finishing move was fantastic.
