as hurt as i was with the end of mass effect 3 i have always believed in Moving forward, never backwards!  always progressing!

i pray to god that this new mass effect is NOT a prequel!

i would like to see it take place a few decades after the events of the shepard Trilogy, with all of the "Friends" shepard had making returns, but i also wouldn't mind it if it took place a bit farther in the future from the Shepard trilogy,

as we all know asari live for a 1000 years, so unless its rediculously in the future, Liara should make a return!

ALSO i would want to be able to choose man or woman just like in the previous games!

PLEASE bioware! give us choice in this game (just like in the Shepard Trilogy except let us choose how to end the game!  do we die?  do we live?  it should all be according to your choices)!

obviously i'd love for shepard to return (or at least find out that the ending of ME3 wasn't as bad as it was) maybe not as a main character :P

Making a sequel is the most exciting and interesting way.
Making a prequel is the most easy and safe way.

Which way do you think BioWare will choose?

Sequel. Just not in the way conventionally viewed.

Will see. Preferably a Sequel. Prequels will have the Reapers casting a Shadow over the whole thing. Sure no one knows about them yet. But yeah ruins and such. Lets bury the Reapers and move on.

Personally I don't think a prequel is either safe or easy. However they were to do a prequel, they have to deal with the feeling anything that happens is largely irrelevent because everybody knows the reapers are about to arrive and completely overshadow everything. And nothing they do can be that important because it can't change events to come.

In some ways they already done 3 prequels. This was all the story dlc. Personally I much preferred dlc from ME2, being able to play it at the end of the game just means it feels more real. Knowing that everything that happens is relevent.

Also I strongly believe the majority of people don't want a prequel, that itself makes it dangerous and hard. I think they could still do a decent game and have a decent story as a prequel. But I highly doubt it would be as good as a sequel.

If they end up doing a prequel I would love to be able to choose a cycle to live in.
I would prefer a sequel though, Hopefully they let us have a larger choice of characters. Maybe being a Prothean awakened from cryo sleep. Maybe choosing a Krogan warlord from Wrex (or Wrev) They would need to develope a system for next gen consoles too. Like Dragon Age's Kepp system.

I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of a prequel, but I think they should make a sequel first so we can see a galaxy that has moved on from the reaper invasion then make a prequel later on. Otherwise, as has been stated quite a few times, the reaper invasion would overshadow the whole story of said prequel.

A sequel.Bioware, just please don't let it be a prequel.Leave ME's history as it is,however instead show us what happened to the galaxy itself, since you know....that never really happened in ME3.

The **** is the point of this thread? I came here expecting news and instead ANOTHER hope-post about sequel wishes. There's a 10 page one already.

Me too. But here is my opinion anyway: the story is so messy that a sequel is suicide.
I strongly support a remake/reboot/alternate universe or anything that could erase the ending of ME3 from the series.

Clear away the charred rubble and rebuild. Leave the baggage behind.

There will always be a disappointed party.

I'm hoping it's the greenies though, would not look forward to playing a game set after that disaster.

Perhaps it's particularly risky in that it could cause some massively negative reactions from fans that want the universe to move forward rather than backward, but it's certainly safe when it comes to actually assembling the story. Setting up a prequel basically frees the writing team completely from dealing with whatever ending they'd end up rolling with.

Lol, likewise. Framing the entire game around that hokum is bad juju.

If ME4 is a sequel, and synthesis is the chosen ending, either Bioware's or the player's choice, I kind of wonder what the conflict would be. The only thing it can be some kind of threat to synthetic life, right? Because everybody else is co-operating now.

I would like to see a brand new fresh approach that takes place in the far future of the events of ME3. A new threat perhaps? Something that doesn't necessarily have to do with total galactic destruction, but a more personal tale set against the backdrop of space in the ME universe.

Agreed , Frag. Though they can easily go with Leviathans since they've been established as a potential threat. There is also the Yahg and extragalactic enemies yet to be uncovered.

No doubt. The question remains what, if anything, it has to do with me. Will I pre-order? Will I wait & see, and maybe grab it a year later when it goes on sale for $20?  Or will it be the first BioWare game in a long time that I don't ever buy?

A green sequel is trash, not gonna buy it. A prequel will be a wait-and-see that I'll probably buy for 20 bucks with all DLC packaged in an "ultimate" edition in a couple of  years. A Mass Effect sequel that is perhaps vague on how Shepard beat the reapers but carries forward in an intact Mass Effect universe (with Geth at peace with the Quarians) would be a definate pre-order.

We'll see.

I doubt it will be a sequel, just because of the ME3 endings. If it's a sequel they'll have to make one of those endings cannon for it to work properly. Because If they don't they're looking at a lot of work ahead of them. Synthesis, and control really effected the ME universe. So I see prequel all the way, or they may make destroy cannon. I don't know.

Personally I vote for a total reboot.

I'd love a destory canon also, only if Shep was involved. But sadly this won't be the case. So no ME4 for me. I'll be back if Shep comes back. But on the bright side, DA hasn't failed me yet ^_^
