Visual part is very important. It makes the characters and the world alive.

Don't even joke about Mass Effect being good even among the other two.

I vastly preferred ME to ME2.

DA2>DA:O.

The F?

Do elaborate.

DA2 has better quality of cutscenes and interactive dialogues. Better visual part in general (except poorly designed environment). DA2 has fully voiced protagonist. 90% of DA (and ME) story and roleplaying is concentrated within dialogues and cutscenes. So why are you asking so strange question?

My sides.

Anybody started laughing hysterically after reading this? No? Just me?

Honesly I'm feeling too sorry for Seival right now to laugh at anything he says. I can only shake my head in astonishment.

He's just really shallow.

Yeah I know. I've never met a gamer that shallow before though. In addition, he's nowhere close to a compelling argument in support of his views so it's even sadder.

No one here is buying his whole superb graphics and visuals + mo-cappping + well known actors = superior game.

First, roleplaying isn't in cutscenes at all.  The player has no control over his character in cutscenes.

Second, roleplaying does exist in every part of the game where the player does have control, which includes both combat and exploration, not to mention on level-up screens when we choose abilities.

Why does your character learn Shield Bash rather than Shield Pummel?  If you're roleplaying that character, you should have an answer to that question.

Third, the implementation of the voiced protagonist in both DA2 amd ME2 was probably the biggest impediment to roleplaying in both games.  DA2's dominant personality system meant that the player didn't know what his character was going to say as as result of dialogue selections.  ME2 went a step farther by not even trying to offer meaningful guidance as to what Shepard would do as a result of using Interrupts.

Finally, the "story" you describe has nothing at all to do with roleplaying.  What story the writers write is merely background for the story your roleplaying creates.

Sylvius, don't. Not with this guy. You'll be arguing in circles.

No, it doesn't. They have tons of work to do before the release.

He'll never acknowledge the validity of someone else's position if he doesn't first recognise his own unstated assumptions as assumptions.

By staking out the opposite position, I hope to demonstrate that.

It's obviously because they focused too much on visuals, though. Imagine how much of an epic series we would've gotten if the budget and years for DA:O had been focused on an 8-bit/16-bit game!

And Remember Me is a great modern AAA heavily story-driven game, not some old-school boredom.

Remember Me is hands down the biggest turd I've played this year.

Heavily story-driven game shouldn't have exploration, side missions or over-complicated (in terms of features quantity) gameplay

If you aren't then no offence, your right to your own opinion being precisely equal to mine or anyone else's, but...

I confess the most interesting thing that the first LOTR game had (2001) for me was its awesome 3D graphics and visuals (beside being "Fellowship of the Ring").

Yes. It seems the graphic engine and conversation wheel are done, if this pic isn't fake.

If you look at the scratches on the helmet around the mouth it appears to be mirrored (nitpicking, I know).

Yay conversation wheel.

Choose one thing, character says something else. I can scarcely think of a down side to that in an RPG.</moan>

Good models and textures are not enough to make a character alive. I want his helmet removed. I want to see how is he talking. How is he moving during the dialogues and cutscenes. Does he look like real human, or just a high-poly doll standing almost still and playing poorly made animations.

From what I've seen from the video, I wasn't impressed.

Yea, let's not judge the game by the video from an early stage of development. But still I have the worries about the visual part. And it's better to voice them long before the release, while it's not too late.

Better axe the entire game, his royal highness is not impressed.
