Visual part is very important. It makes the characters and the world alive.

I personally think the game looks visually splendid from what I have seen, but:

I would not call 1 year from release "early stage of development", but I am down for decreasing the amount of cutscenes and possibly dialogue. For me, interactive dialogue has been getting worse with each new game, and reducing the amount of it may actually improve the game, as long as other areas of the game pick up the slack in the creativity department.

They said they are in pre-alfa stage recently. Probably, in a half way between first-playable and alfa? It's an early stage of development. They still have room to maneuver :)

ALPHA. Not "alfa".

http://www.examiner....t-update-posted

Read that article. Its basically saying that they are trying very hard to complete the game and make it fully playable by the holidays so they can playtest with all the free time they'll have. If that is a possible goal, that means they aren't going to make the huge (terrible) changes you want. Stahp.

I'm not talking about action-oriented. I'm talking about story-oriented. ME3 was both more story-oriented and more visually good than DA:O. If you will remove all excess "kill-10-rats" things from DA:O, you will only have a several hours of poor storytelling left, nothing more. Too large amount of gameplay has nothing to do with good storytelling.

Go Play Beyond Two Souls or whatever else if that's all you want.

I want a BioWare game which means storytelling AND gameplay. Not a endless stream or of cutscenes I have no interaction with and QTE's occasionally interspaced with actual gameplay so it can be called a game.

I don't want beyond two souls, I don't want skyrim, I don't want The witcher, I want bioware to do what they have been doing for over 10 years. I can go and play those other games if that's the experience I want.

DA:I is going to be a good next-gen game. So, let's not judge the game by pre-alfa based videos, and hope for the following things in release:

 - Best possible facial motion capture for all facial expressions and talking.
 - Best possible gestures/move/attack motion capture, and as many variants of all of that as possible.
 - Best possible motion captured sequences for all dialogue scenes and cut-scenes.

In a next-gen game characters shouldn't look like or act like a dolls. A lot of good actors' work can make them truly alive.

I'm not talking about turning DA:I into an interactive movie. But visual quality of the same level as in The Last of Us, for example, is simply required for a next-gen game. Even if it's an RPG with much larger amount of dialogues and cutscenes.

funny enough those things don't make me feel the game is "alive" for me. those are just gimicks, the face capture is meh, and really only for games that require you to read facial motion. All teh rest are agian just on the Meh side.

An example of a alive world was funny enough Saints Row 2. compared to Saints Row 3. In 2 for some reason it felt more alive and organic, the traffic seemed more orgnic and everything else did too, sure the texure quailty wasn't that great and didn't really age well but the city seemed more alive.

So while grafics should be good it doesn't need tobe out of the park with poly counts just to make it good, also "Just becuase" its next Gen it doesn't need to push the system to its breaking point.

"Games" aren't good because of the poly counts. Games are good when its fun to play.

You're expecting BioWare and EA to shell out money for tons of motion capture?

I don't know about motion capture. The game is too "varied" for that kind of thing. Plus, motion capture doesn't really work well with RPGs. I mean it does in that the actions look a lot more "fluid" and "continuous", but those things really aren't the deciding factor on whether or not an RPG is good.

Longer storylines, good characters- you know, all those stuff, are usually what makes an rpg game good. Visuals are just bonuses.

Dragon age is becoming more and more like an action hack&slash game. I really hope DAI is more on the side of RPG types, with a little sprinkle of action.

Racists themselves are typically the first ones to cry racism.  You should probably choose your words carefully.

not crying racism  but saying you didn't care about some little black ****es death, just sounds terrible

Oh, I said '****es' now? Please continue, you amuse me :bandit:

Whilst i am in no way saying anything abot racism or anything, you said:
"I literally laughed when the little black girl in the hunger games died. I was like "am I supposed to care? I met this **** 5 minutes ago."

So you did say some blanked out word...

It seems I did. Apologies ol' chap! Still **** was never used in conjuction with black. God I hate these arguements. They're so silly. Even I'm beginning to loath myself in pursuit of my 'defense.' I sound like a bloody 4th grader making execuses as to not to get time out.

I`d rather a bioware rpg feel like a full season of my favorite tv-show, than a 2 hour long movie.

Yeah, I don't play quick time event types of games. I just watch them on Youtube and never see them again. I actually want to be able to strategize and interact with the environment in ways that aren't completely predetermined by the devs. :P

I agree, visual part is very important. That's why there should be more boobs physics in the game.

I am not so sure. The game will defniitely feel more alive, in more than one way, and more than one place. However, they would probably have to hire 10 MIT graduates, paying them 50 dollars and 6 beers per hour for more than a year, just to simulate the fluid dynamics of boobies in a mildly convincing manner.

No, not pew pew. Just a shorter game made deliberately shorter so they can use mocap for everything.

Which is utterly terrible.

BAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

sorry but...

BAHASHSHSHSHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Because you should have seen my face at the end of the Walking Dead. I seriously can't watch that ending still, I crumble into an emotional wreck and cry like I've never cried before. That man was the bro of bros, the nicest son-of-a-**** I had ever had the good fortune of playing as. Seriously, I have never met a person so nice and thoughtful ever! Not even in real life.

Heh, you definitely played a different Lee than I did. I stole food from innocent people, let a teenage boy fall to his death, and skewered a guy with a pitchfork. Not that I regret any of it, but it probably disqualifies him from "nicest guy ever".

Anyway, I thought Seival had enough of a reputation by now that people no longer took his threads seriously. I guess I was wrong.

Comparing The Last of Us to Dragon Age is redicolous.

The Last of Us had actors in Motion Capture suits. The game is basically Actors with a background put in afterwards for the cutseens.

If I was bioware and read half the stuff people post on their forum I'd be very discouraged.

In fact if they were not paid for what they do you would probably find them getting really upset and not wishing to continue.

This happened to one of my friends in the modding comunity it was his 5th release of a skin texture pack and people were really critical of his work becouse it didn't match their expectations of what the thought the faction represented.

Moreover they are using the FB 3 engine so you will see improvements in the areas your talking about.
