And it occurred to me: Isn't it now pretty much inevitable that the Klingons will go to war with the Federation, after the destruction of the patrol on their own homeworld? And with the Vengeance destroyed, where would that leave the Federation in terms of being able to fight back?
I'm aware that it is probably WAY past time to discuss the movie; just a thought.
So I watched "Star Trek: Into Darkness" again last night...

Terrible movie. I wish Abrahms would leave the IP alone.

Let's not even delve into the sudden emergence of a market for Khan's blood as a cure-all.slimgrin wrote...

This was just a plot point that seemed to have been blown off. The Klingons are left with every reason to start gearing up for a war while Starfleet is busy destroying its own headquarters and its best fighting ship in one go. Seriously, Khan probably killed about half a million people (conservative estimate) crashing that ship into downtown San Francisco.

The Klingons always struck me as the type that wouldn't really need a reason to start gearing up for war on the Federation. They'd just do it, because glorious battle.
In reality I suspect that if more movies get made they'll just conveniently ignore the patrol that was wiped out.

I haven't seen the film yet, heard too many terrible things. But if the next film is about the Klingon conquest of Earth I'd forgive them for everything they might have done wrong.

No more making ties to the older films. Give Bones more screen time and new material and I'm good to go.

Well spoilers, but honestly, the film's story is not worth protecting:
The moon of Kronos was shown shattered, and the planet looked pretty beaten up, so everyone familiar with a bit of Trek lore knows what does that mean.
But since all these new films got common with Star Trek are cheap references, they might just ignore it altogether and go for the explosions.

Didn't really care for it. Only Star Trek film I even remotely found entertaining was Abrams first one. All the others I've seen made me want to gouge my eyes out.

One might ask how the Klingons would know the Federation attacked their homeworld? But more importantly, I think the actual title is "Star Trek Into Darkness" without the colon. Which is stupid.

You didn´t like First Contact?
I still think Space Quest is the best ST movie though.

I enjoyed both Abrams Star Trek movies, but it's undeniable that they are both flawed. They're kinda like some slightly nonsensical fan fiction that actually became high budget action movies.
What they definitely did wrog in Into Darkness was wasting Urban's Bones. This guy really surprised me in the first movie, and is imo the best of the cast ("best" as in sometimes eerily close to the original). McCoy needs a bigger role in the next movie, and they need to start establishing the bromance trinity of Kirk, Spock and Bones.
