Glad someone touched on this.

So I am replaying the entire series from the start again after not playing ME1 for about 4-5 years.

Went to GameStop and picked up a new copy of ME1 since my loser friend lost my copy the I loaned him.

I have to say, getting use to the controls will be tricky.

What I would like to know is, should I complete ME1 multiple times before moving on to ME2? Whats the max level? Will the level directly impact into ME2 and ME3?

I remember porting over to ME2 with a lvl 59 character once some years back.

Thanks.

As far as the controls, do the reverse of what I've done: remap the ME1 controls to be like the ME2 & ME3 controls.  That way the only control issue you should have is the automatically taking cover when you run into a barrier of some sort.

To your first question, I'd say it depends on how different your Shepards are in each playthrough and how adept you are at switching back and forth between different role-playing and combat styles.  If you can do the wild swings, complete several Shepards in ME1 before importing them en masse to ME2.  If you would prefer to do one Shepard all the way through the Trilogy first, that makes perfect sense as well.

As far as leveling, an ME1 character at 50-59 will start at level 3 in ME2, and a level 60 will start at level 5.  30 is the maximum level in ME2 and your ME2 level carries over to ME3.

ME1 - Many, many times ( 15 or more I believe )
ME2 - 6-7 times
ME3 - 2 painful times.

I play it because it's the best way to fill up "dead time" in your day.

HAHAHAHA 2 painful times.

I know it's hard. After revisiting ME1 for the first time in years, the whole combat system was great getting use to in 3 but that ending kills it for me sometimes.

I will admit though ME3 was dam great. There were parts I where I thought "How in the hell did I survive that?"

Now that I look back. ME2 has ALOT of replayability.

Do people still play online ME3?

Mass Effect is a wonderful series. Creating your own character + great universe + great characters + great story = something that you want to experience more than one time.

ME1: 4 times, kept 3 Shepards out of the 4 I had made.
ME2: I don't remember, maybe around 6 or 7 times. Three of those just for one of my Shepards.
ME3 Single-Player: 1 time, pre-Extended Cut, completed it one month after release, never touched it since.
ME3 Multi-Player: Easily 1000+ hours.

Oh I'm sure either 40 something or 60+ times since 2010. I don't play many video games honestly.

I guess my question is; why is this game so appealing? Even after all the "ending" drama this series has a special place in most gamers hearts. Either it's bitter disappointment or joy. Why? Why care so much?

And if it's because of the relationships in the game, then why aren't more games out with the same formula?

It's like they're old friends I haven't seen in a while. A least that's the feeling I get when I last played.

What the hell.. 5th times the charm.

I completely heard Kaidan's voice... I think that says how much I've replayed it all lol.

I started Mass Effect 1 when I was younger, and easily loved it. I replayed it about 5 times as I grew up, racking up achievements as I went. Now, I've replayed it about 26 times.

Mass Effect 2: Including Shadow Broker, Kasumi, Zaeed, and Fire Walker (Ugh), 34 times.

Mass Effect 3: 3 times, excluding any DLC besides the extended cut.
Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer: 1500+ Hours

Guddamn, I love this series. ME2 was the one I also replayed the most, probably because of how fun it was being introduced to my favorite characters for the first time, and the awesome side missions.

And I definitely agree on that feeling of seeing old friends again. I miss Garrus and Miranda now :'(
