If the if the hints/rumors of their importance to the plot are true, they will be a major enemy mook faction in DA3. I have no idea how or why the red templar army is created, but, assuming it would make a worthwhile difference, if your inquisitor could stop the creation, or the potential creation, of more red templars by killing regular templars encountered, or has the opportunity to neutralize the entire order with the same goal in mind, would s/he do it?

I would kill Templars anyway because they willfully joined an organization that seeks to oppress and slaughter people for having the wrong genes.

Me, no. But I think a lot of players would kill all regular templars for being regular templars if they could.

I do not think it will come to that, but if it did, my mage would burn them all to ash.

I would kill any templars anywhere I go if given a choice. The only difference between regular templars and red templars to me is only in that I have respect for the latter unlike the former.

Given that I know nothing about my PC's background, class, or personality at this point, it's going to be difficult to answer this question.

My character may or may not kill various groups for a wide range of reasons.

Thats a bit like asking would you kill a murder when he/she was an infant, my answer would be no as they haven't done anything yet. (Innocent until proven Guilty and all that Jazz)

I won't kill anyone who bends the knee to me. If they decide to oppose me continuously, then they'll pay for it with their lives.

Certainly not!

That would be like killing Mages just because they might turn into abominations! I will not turn into a Ser Alrik wannabe.:pinched:

Where is the dev confirmation of this Red Templar thing?

Speficially, where has it been officially confirmed that the red glowing golem-like giant is a Templar transformed by Red Lyrium?

The Red Templars are an splinter group of Templars who use and drink red lyrium, which makes them insane and seems to turn them into monsters like the Behmoth whose wearing their armour.
As for would I kill the Templars, no it's clear that Red Templars are evil and must die but the other ones aren't though their organization needs to change dramatically because of so many factors or history will repeat itself.

No that would be like killing Tevinter Magisters because they might become a demon or a blood mage.

You can't kill people based on what they might do in the future. It's not fair to them. So no, I wouldn't kill templars just based on what they might become.

No. Killing all templars due to the threat of some becoming red templars would be no better than holding all mages responsible for those who may become blood mages or abominations. I haven't gotten into the head of the inquisitor yet but I can safely she'll be no hypocrite.

As a proponent of Blood Magic I would strike Templars regardless.

So were the Red Templars thrown just to make The Templar side even more murky and ambiguous?

I mean; now just like Mages they have their "abominable" forms. If they had tendencies to go berskerk ala Meredith than.....how aren't they every bit the danger any mage is?

Can't all non-mages potentially be corrupted by red lyrium?

I mean, being a templar is not a genetic condition like being a mage. It's essentially just a title, which is probably being tossed around by loads of people since the Order broke away from the Chantry.

You'd have to kill nearly everyone just to be sure...

Why is that?

You do recall that Templars are recruited as children and given a substance to make them addicts, right? Alistair only got out of it because he was recruited to the Grey Wardens.

Lol, I don't think there's anything about that. The very FIRST Templars faced in that demo are Red Templars, and it's Red Templars (if I recall correctly) that assault Crestwood.

Unrelated: I want this game. Bioware, I want this game.

Possibly because they can't throw a fireball and kill a dozen people. Possibly because they can't literally control someone's mind through their blood.

Possibly.

And Tevinter magisters are raised by their parents appropriately for the society they live in.

It's got nothing to do with the society they're in. The OP is proposing killing ALL Templars, regardless of whether they're harsh or not/how they were raised, on the possibility that they may become Red Templars.

That's no different from killing ALL mages, regardless of whether they were raised to become blood mages or not, based on the possibility that they may all become blood mages.

Same thing.
