Would you kill templars in DA3 if doing so stopped the creation of red templars?

Depends; how many are Meredith level is really what makes the difference.  Look what she did and she had no clue what she was doing whatsoever.  If Red Templars tend to have one Meredith level freak out every so often like abominations happen to mages....thats a pretty extreme threat there.

If they actually ARE able to animate giant statues...then any place there are a bunch of giant statues around, I'd agree with you.

For someone who wants to discuss subjective views, you seem to follow no customs of the internet and commit lots of faux pas in discussing things and making people know you're being subjective. IMO.

My purposes on these forums are as follows:
1) Gather more information about the franchise - whether it be through official devs involvment and responses, or be it the word of fellow fans that might have noticed something interesting that I might not have thought about, and discussions on it.
2) Giving developers my feedback, with a tiny chance of being heard and probably influance future features of the game.

The 2) often involves me trying to get people off their high moral horses, because such attitude is the most impactful cause of railroading and insuffiecient choices in storytelling. Imo.

People already know the other side. You have decided before you ever came in here that there is only one side and it is yours. You are not interested in a discussion you are interested in telling people why you are right and if they disagree they are wrong.

The thing is, there is only one side for everyone, and that's their side, and that side is right, and the other persons side if they disagree is wrong. But there is no universal right or wrong, only the subjective personal right and wrong. I understand that, and always say that upfront, but some people think there is some sort of universal right that is on their side, often because they are in agreement with a lot other people, and they mistake that for some kind of authority, but opinion of the majority is not the criteria for truth.

That's a crappy argument for the type of debate you've been engaging in, which if I may sum it up has been.

"I like to argue like I have a universal truth backing up my claims, but because I say that it's my own opinion, I give myself the right to be a jerk to everyone elses opinions because I say so. Therefore, allowing me all the pompusness and rudeness of making an argument of authority while using a loophole to avoid criticisms of how rude i'm being."

Most of my DA characters are either really naive, do-good types, or both, so most of my characters are probably going to try and find a middle ground. As for my personal thoughts, both sides have innocents and... well, people who qualify as villains. I take the mage's side in general considering they're in a lower position of power and templars can easily abuse their control over mages, but I doubt being an extremist on either side would help.

So basically bad is bad, neutral is neutral and good is good (or anywhere in between), regardless of if the person is a mage or a templar or anything else. I like to judge them individually. Anders may have gone pretty nuts by act 3 thanks to Vengeance, but one thing he was right about was that anyone can abuse the power they have. That's why killing everyone isn't a (sane) solution, the weird thing he didn't realize is, because of that, compromise -is- an option.

Wouldn't you rather be taking down the templars then? Instead of taking out cheap stormtrooper knockoffs mascarading as templars in name only?

I would imagine if you wanted to be anti-templars, you'd want the templars to be like they were in the other games in order to actually stop them, instead of going through a literary bait and switch.

Probably. I usually kill templars on sheer principle.

If everyone is right and someone disagrees, is the statement true or false?

If someone disagrees, then the statement cannot be true.

From what we have seen from PAX, the Reds have the whole shooting balls of magic light part down.

If someone disagrees, then the statement cannot be true.

But if the statment is not true then the person who disagree is wrong. That would make the statement true again. Then back to false, then....

Why do you want crappy writing in the game? It all seems rather petty.

I never liked Cerberus or TIM and was very frustrated with being forced to work with them in ME2 but I also disliked their ME3 incarnation because it was stupid and damaged the game regardless of how I felt about them before.

So they're basically mages.

What happened to normal Templars, who's only magical abilities are mainly defensive? Sigh.

How do the two conflict? Everyone is right in their own world, not the world where we all live in.

Ya, now we can throw the whole,"Red Templars are not as dangerous as blood mages" arguement out the window.....The just mean more bad new for any one fighting them both.

Meh. That might be all that they can do. But still, these Temps are different in that they still require a substance to make use of these powers, unlike mages.

They still cannot do many of things magic can do, let alone blood magic.
