SERIOSLY he dosent tell u ANYTHING about himself,hes a serial killer,AND HES FREAKING WEAK!!!!

u would think that a HUGE guy with a claymore wearing heavy armor would be strong and helpful but for some reason NO MATTER HOW HIGH HIS STATS ARE,NO MATTER HOW STRONG HIS ARMOR IS,AND NO MATTER HOW MANY BUFFS U GIVE HIM he ALWAYS falls in battle

HE DIES IN LIKE 4 HITS..AND CANT EVEN HANDLE A PACK OF WOLVES

I've never had these problems with him. Considering you're the one who controls him.. maybe it isn't he who is useless?

I used him the entire game and he didn't fall in battle more than anybody else. I do agree he is probably the weakest choice among the fighters besides Dog.

Two-handed warriors aren't like sword and shield warriors. They're more squishy, but they also hit a lot harder. It takes time to adjust to playing with them, and learning how to properly use their talents.

no i dont play as him i buff him up and let him slash up monsters...he has a REALLLy powerful warhammer and parts of juggernut armor and grey warden armor...AND HE IS STILL DYING

I always use Sten (and Oghren) in the larger and more, explodey, boss fights and he holds up just fine. He also has hilarious dialogues with morrigan. just get some better armor for him, take your time and pause the game in combat and you're good to go.

Also try massive armor, and heed the advice of the loading screens.

The more I play the game, the more I like Sten. He can be great fun to talk to or have in your party when you travel through conversation zones. Played correctly he can be a DPS monster (Hint: he is not a main tank). His motives are fairly simple to figure out. Finally, you can never accidentally wind up in a romance with Sten. Not ever. Which is a relief after dealing with Alisdtair, Zevran, Lelianna and Morrigan.

Well, start puttinhg points in his CON stats and give him a decent armor.

That will help.

*sigh* Early in the game whoever is tanking for you is "weak" because you are all weak. Equip and support your tank and as you level, spec them correctly, and you will see them turn into a damage sponge and a killing machine. Copy and paste this reply into the next "Alistair sucks" thread for me, too, will you?

While it is debateable Oghren is better personality wise there is no doubt he is better number wise since he can get two specializations and Sten only gets one and Oghren gets that nice to have 10% magical damage resistance thing.

Option 4 - turn "threaten" off.

I suspect most people having an issue with Sten dying are forgetting that he comes pre-set in tactics to activate threaten whenever he sees an enemy.

Personally, Sten tanks for my dps PC's as a 2h warrior. Evidently, you are doing something wrong.

1, Troll.
2.  You obviously haven't taken the time to communicate with Sten in a rational manner...You would have found out *why* he killed the farmer and his family if you had.
3.  I don't find Sten dying, not at all.  And have you tried changing him to board and sword for laughs and giggles? hmm...didn't think so.
4.  Oh...and a little hint - Sten likes cake.  He told me so.    Don't think you're approaching him the right way.  Remember, he's qunari, not human.

I had a problem with him on my first play through, but this time, I dumped more points into Dex and found it made a huge difference. He still threatens, gets the aggro, but doesn't get hit as much. I dunno, I had to change my tactics with him around, and then I had to change my mind about him...

The main problem with him is that when you first get him you need to load points into his dexterity or he'll take a lot of damage while dealing little, same for Ohgren.



I find that he never seems to have anywhere near as good stats as my PC 2h warrior though. He would be much better if you could actually assign all of his points rather than get him at level 6/7 and find that his stats have been ineffectively assigned.



I hate him as a person though, very disrespectful, gets better towards the end but I still don't really like him.

He is the only one who truly respects you. Just that his respect means something as it has to be earned.

But since Sten gets STR bonus rather than CON bonus, and you get him earlier, he will end up with like 10 more STR than Oghren.
