However, my main problem with Beth games at the moment is that it lacks impact in the slightest. You killed Alduin? Great. Dragons will still be there. Oh so you killed Miraak? Cool, now you get to use a statue and forget about it. Harkon's dead now? Ohmygodthankyou! Vampires will still be there killing merchents. Good luck, meadboy. At least Oblivion had a little change. People did go on and on about how you're the new guy after you lead a guild. That kind of thing.
Why are Bethesda games more popular?

Protip: Gameplay is what the player is actively doing while in control of the on-screen avatar. And yes that does not include waiting on button prompts. What that does include are things like running and jumping in Mario, shooting a gun and other things in CoD and Halo, or *gasp*, swinging your sword and blocking in Skyrim.

I fail to see most games having a press one-button style of playing in it. This is more similar to grasping at straws.Lazengan wrote...

According to the gameplay messiah Lasagna this is the case. You're not seeing any kind of gameplay when you play Skyrim because reasons.Mr.House wrote...

the plot of a computer or video game or the way that it is played
the story and structure of a computer game, and the way that it is played
So if you take the story/structure/plot, add or substitute the actual playing of it, carry the one, you end up with...well, the whole user experience, up to and including their actions, would seem to be the gameplay, no?

There's a ton of **** to do, and it's practically for everyone.
Look at Assassin's Creed. There are those who enjoy the plot and writing, and then there are those who enjoy the stabbing and climbing. And then there are those who enjoy both!
Simplez!

I already explained to you what gameplay is
Making ambigious desicions to reach an end goal
If you cant extract information out of that statement due to your limited mental capabilities, then I actually fear for the future of the gaming industry
None of you actually want to make desicions. You want QTE button mashers and press X for instant gratification self insert stories.
The standard for storytelling in video games is so bad too because they use the "its a video game" excuse. If I honestly wanted to experience a good story I would read a book or watch a film
if I wanted to engage in a contest of desicion making and skill I would play multiplayer counter strike or tetris
