Link Between Worlds is a better sandbox game then Bethesda games of late. Bethesda games are simply overrated. Bethesda fanboys though will eat up anything Bethesda dishes out and ignore any issues their games have.

I'm not sure "ignoring" is accurate. Maybe we accept and love them despite having issues. There is more to gaming than pointing out every single flaw you can find.

<--Bethesda fangirl, and proud of it.

Kinda hard when said flaws are right in your face every few minutes. Case to the point, Solitutde. The capital of Skyrim, smaller then the Vivec from Morrowind and the Imperial City in Oblivion. World is ment to be Bethesda's strength but beside it being pretty things like the cities are extreamly poor.

Well the population is supposed to be a lot smaller in Skyrim. But don't get me wrong, it should have been a lot bigger. And Windhelm, apparently.

However, my main problem with Beth games at the moment is that it lacks impact in the slightest. You killed Alduin? Great. Dragons will still be there. Oh so you killed Miraak? Cool, now you get to use a statue and forget about it. Harkon's dead now? Ohmygodthankyou! Vampires will still be there killing merchents. Good luck, meadboy. At least Oblivion had a little change. People did go on and on about how you're the new guy after you lead a guild. That kind of thing.

Least in Oblivion not only was the Imperial city still damaged but all Oblivion gates where now closed and peopel would in fact talk about the attack and even thank you. In SKyrim people seem to forget Alduin was flying around killing people.

Since we're protiping in dis bish...

Protip: Gameplay is what the player is actively doing while in control of the on-screen avatar. And yes that does not include waiting on button prompts. What that does include are things like running and jumping in Mario, shooting a gun and other things in CoD and Halo, or *gasp*, swinging your sword and blocking in Skyrim.

please explain to me what gameplay is?

pressing action button whent prompted to do so?

hitting pinatas?

the tactical aspects of a computer game, such as its plot and the way it is played, as distinct from the graphics and sound effects.

If a game lets me eat a sandwich, it's gameplay.

I fail to see how pressing one button to continue movie is a game

I find it more similar to a toy

I fail to see most games having a press one-button style of playing in it. This is more similar to grasping at straws.

Was he even killing people? I'm pretty sure the game just forgot about him up until A Blade in the Dark.

According to the gameplay messiah Lasagna this is the case. You're not seeing any kind of gameplay when you play Skyrim because reasons.

Well, if you look up "gameplay" on dictionary.com or the Macmillan dictionary, the definitions are a little ambiguous.

the plot of a computer or video game or the way that it is played

the story and structure of a computer game, and the way that it is played

So if you take the story/structure/plot, add or substitute the actual playing of it, carry the one, you end up with...well, the whole user experience, up to and including their actions, would seem to be the gameplay, no?

Controlling your comrades while not actively participating in combat is gameplay blasphemy in the Church of Lasagna. Burn Persona at the stake.

Ryse as you just saw

And most "story" based games which involve absolutely no desicions being made through gameplay but of pressing QTEs

it's just bad and poorly developped gameplay

Because they are. Why? I suppose they appeal to a lot of people. Roleplayers can have a blast in Skyrim, modders can make their contribution, scenery porn is popular too as well as those who just love to do EVERYTHING.

There's a ton of **** to do, and it's practically for everyone.

Look at Assassin's Creed. There are those who enjoy the plot and writing, and then there are those who enjoy the stabbing and climbing. And then there are those who enjoy both!

Simplez!

I already explained to you what gameplay is

Making ambigious desicions to reach an end goal

If you cant extract information out of that statement due to your limited mental capabilities, then I actually fear for the future of the gaming industry

None of you actually want to make desicions. You want QTE button mashers and press X for instant gratification self insert stories.

The standard for storytelling in video games is so bad too because they use the "its a video game" excuse. If I honestly wanted to experience a good story I would read a book or watch a film

if I wanted to engage in a contest of desicion making and skill I would play multiplayer counter strike or tetris

Uh huh. Do you know what a QTE is? Don't know why I'm asking considering what you think gameplay is.

Good job in telling people what they want

You'd be perfect in a forum called RPG Codex

Why argue with Lazengan, he's full of ****. Its always the same with him, he comes up with a bunch of ridiculous nonsense that no one understands and dismisses everyone else's opinions as invalid because they do not agree with him. I bet you'd have more luck convincing a toaster than trying to make sense of what he says.

I think he pretty much fits with what insanity is about, he does this every so often expecting different results from everyone around here. Seriously, find something better to do, will you, no one is going to listen to your nonsense without question.

Game design my ass.

you have yet to define me what you think good gameplay is

everything said in this thread so far has been relatable to press X button for next cutscene
