In the interest of not backtracking through lifeless landscapes, I support red pawning to a degree. Only certain creatures like local wildlife or Darkspawn in the deep roads should repopulate. It has to make lore sense. That said, I like the idea that lower level mobs retreat or ignore the high level player. It doesn't make as much sense for Darkspawn, who seem a bit too frenzied to make that judgment, but bandits aren't going to attack a heavily armed group unless they greatly outnumber them (A system that takes into account the number of mobs would be interesting now that I think of it) and wildlife generally shies away from human contact.

Although, one thing to take into account is the nature of the conflict in this game. Tears in the Fade are pouring out all manner of demons and spirits.

This sets up the possibility for high powered random enemies to, literally, be falling from the sky. Not to mention the concept that spirits can inhabit such mundane things as trees, as we saw with the Sylvan, and suddenly you could have an unlimited amount of enemies. Rock wraiths from the very stones in the ground, a Sylvan for every tree in a forest, a water elemental for every pond or creek... such things can be a lore-friendly source of unlimited fighting in this game.

The "problem" with that idea is that it allows grinding, and high levels, which someone like myself would abuse.

That said, with DA I's semi-open world, and the non-scaling enemy levels, it makes a lot more sense.

I don't think that's as much an issue as you think, most enemies are level matched to your current lv anyway, only difference is what skills you have to make encounters easier. Leveling Grinding is only a issue for those who actually intend to level grind, and if they do so then that's how they choose to play the game. No developer should hinder content simply because a select few will play the game one way in order to get some kind of factious advantage. This isn't a competitive game, it's a single player the only person you are competiting against is yourself.

You may have missed my second sentence, and you may not have heard the news, but DA I will not have level scaling.

As for the rest of your comment, fair enough. But does Bioware feel the same? The fact that they've had level caps (a particularly low one for DA: O, and a high one for DA ][) implies otherwise.

This.

I really agree with Fast Jimmy's comments on this.
