I've been looking at the fan made RPGs developed for Mass Effect(both the D20 and D6 versions) and i wondered if there were any groups that use Roll20.net who wanted to try it out.

This Roll20.net looks like a cool site for online Role-playing for folks not able to meet in person, and it has a video chat feature.

Anyone up for it?

I ran a year long campaign for a group of friends a couple years back based upon a mini-6 mechanic set prior to the Skyllian Blitz. Generally I prefer as few mechanics as possible (because playing these things is so damn slow over the internet), but since people expect a healthy dose of shooting with anything mass effect we ended up using MapTool to provide a top-down perspective of the action sequences. I mocked up stylised map backgrounds in Photoshop then imported some Mass Effect model assets into MapTool (such as computer consoles, crates, barricades, speeders etc.) to spice things up. Overall, I think it was pretty much a success, it's just a shame I'm so much more time-limited these days. If you need any input on running one I can try and chip in, and I'm sure lots of people around would be very interested in knowing how it goes if you do get one going...

I have been actually developing a homebrew Mass Effect RPG based off of a custom system a friend of mine used to publish his own sci-fi game, titled Myriad Song.

It actually fits nicely into the system, which is more akin to World of Darkness and Warhammer 2nd Edition, and uses a dice pool for everything instead of d20/d6.

If you like, I can show you my notes and how the mechanics work sometime.

I like the idea of adapting something similar to WoD, simply because it's a fairly simple system and great from the perspective of the game master. If your principle goal is actually telling a story, I think it's probably the right choice (as opposed to having a group of strategy nuts!). I'd be pretty interested in seeing how that panned out. Have you run any playtesting with it yet?

I have not no, its incomplete in its adaptation at this time, mainly due to having too much on my plate to finish it fully.

Although it might just be a few changes to combat and powers, since almost everything is based on gifts in some form.

I usually am better/ at explaining the mechanics of how it works through an example, versus text. Still the basic adaptations would be adapting aliens, changing up some of the powers to biotic and tech, and throw in some of the custom powers and weapons found in Mass Effect. Not that hard, just time consuming.

Sounds interesting.  I kinda would like to get into table-top RPGs but i don't know anyone locally.

You don't have a local game store or anything? Usually there are signups for those.

Anyone interested in building an ME RPG, I am convinced, would be best suited by looking into Hero System. The system can handle just about everything easily, and everything else with some work. I've done some initial legwork for a version of it, but never got around to finishing it--it had promise, though.
