Leave it to a mage to underestimate a mundane.

Well considering that Hawke only took out a mundane in that scene, your point is wasted. And a mage, can melt the knife in seconds, deflect it, grab it with force magic to send it flying back, or a million other things to completely negate what you are trying to do.

Or a mage can do a Magneto style and throw the dagger right back at it's owner ;)

So basically all mages are mary sues, because they can negate all damage in 1 second even if they don't see it coming and have reaction speeds of gods. I can see they must have trained long and hard at ebony dark'ness dementia raven way's school of being perfect and magic.

I think he wanted to say that mages have other means to protect themselves from projectiles that the mundanes don't. Add to that armor a force shield that might have been activated prior to the battle and he's safe.

Give that knife to a skilled rogue and the mage might end up felling a few inches of cold steel in his throat ( if he has no protective spell active )

Never underestimate your enemy and never overestimate your skills no matter what. Do that and you will be beaten by your own ego. Don't do it and you will always give your best.

That's why the best assassins are the ones who're humble, and disguise themselves as normal people, or even better, as the help. Nobody ever bats an eye at the help until it's too late.

Yes, but without the element of surprise they pretty much have to chose between killing their target in combat or running.

Don't annoy them. They might all unite and form a posse. Then things might get a little unpleasant.

If you're referring to the guy that get's kicked - I say that you will do your best, not always win

If you referring to the Uchiha - he'll keep underestimating his enemies until one of them is smart enough to profit from it and strong enough to beat him with that advantage ( I don't know how things are going in Naruto. Haven't watch it from the 30 something episode from the first one. Might start watching it some time, so please no spoilers )

Considering the amount of beatings mages have taken the past 900 years, we can categorically deny this claim.

I dunno. It depends on the posse, the mages, and how well each one uses what it has.

Well, at least mages will never be as powerful as the psykers of the Imperium of Man. At least Thedas got that going for it.

That should be the last of your worries. Be grateful that the abominations in Thedas are not like Tzeentch's Lords Of Change

Meh, at least Lords of Change cannot enter the physical realm at their full power. An Alpha Level psyker can destroy an entire world unwittingly. That is some bad mojo right there.

Personally I am also more horrified of the idea of having to face a Bloodthirster than a Lord of Change. But that might just be the soldier in me.;)

I think that his Lords Of Change could beat any other Greater Daemon of the other Chaos Gods ( if he wants it ) - he's so annoying when he loses on purpose.:pinched:

Well, the Lord of Change are certainly the most magically potent of the Daemons, but the Bloodthirsters are the strongest martially speaking, and they got an innate magical resistance coupled with the Collar of Khorne making them practically immune to magic. Also remember that the Lords of Change are physically frail, compared to other daemons anyway, and would not alst long in fisticuffs with any other Greater Daemon. However, if the Lord of Change gets a chance to lure the Bloodthirster into playing his game, then sure he's got a chance. Usually though the fights' outcomes would be circumstancial. There is a reason after all that there never is a status quo in the immaterium.
