Ad (1): WoT I, sidebar on page 199:
"The more violent the pain or death used in blood magic, the more powerful a spell becomes"
"Mages who experiment with blood magic are more susceptible to demonic spirits".

Ad (2):
It's not overthinking if you point out an obvious consequence.

I think she said templars who are out for your head. She used the contraction "who're".

Ok, we need to draw a line there. Using religion to influence people is a whole different ball game from using blood magic to literally steer peoples thoughts. One doesn't justify the other.

Religion brainwashes people all the time. Does Jim jones ring a bell to you? The Chantry actually convinces the public that mages caused the blight to happen, and that they convinced people that what they do to the mages are jusitifiable act, and that it is for the safety of everyone.

The Chantry are masters of social engineering, and for that reason alone they're no better than blood mages.

Her sentence was, "And a little pain is nothing if it gets templars off you who're out for your head." She used the contraction "who're" that represents who are. That's one bold affirmation that I think it's a little abstract and might not express your true intent.

If you are saying that sometimes, through history, there are some individuals that get a little overzelous and fanatical to the point where they become a danger for others, for themselves and they can be used as puppets by a higher ranked individual then I agree.

If you throw every single religious person in the same bucket with those examples I can't agree under no circumstance.

Every group has its share of nutjobs and it's in the human nature to try to transform everything in a tool that gives them an advantage over their neighbors and empowers them over the others; be it science, religion or everything you can think of.

Yes and no. Generalizations help us to easier comunicate by shortening our word usage. Also, they can be used to depict how a majority tends to act.

Still, in some situations it can be bad because by generalising you can send another message than the one you intended and it can cause confusion and the need of an eventual clarification...or it could simply make some people go berserk because reasons.

I don't think a religion, no matter hoe powerful, can mske a person obey them without physically doing anything to them. Blood magic can.
