They should come to me for training then - cause my mages don't need blood magic.

I don't care if you do blood magic, they're your hands.  My career involves physical labor - if you want rugged man-hands, enjoy.  Yes, yes - I know - magic hand softener.

Was that last line "You're out of your head?"

Making a cut on your hand generates pain. Not as much as cutting a people's arm, or extracting his heart, but it's still pain. And Jowan was able to surprised Gregoir with it.
I'm not a great fan of blood magic, but it can be used without hurting others, or even without hurting yourself too much.

I'd really like to have a clarification on the newly-evilized blood magic in WoT I. The way it's presented in-game is different, and two games have enough weight to question the new philosophy's authenticity until explicity confirmed. Anyway, you'd be surprised by how much pain you can generate with a small wound of little otherwise consequence. Self-mutilation is not required. Also, what about clubbing someone? With no blood drawn? I don't think they really thought this through at the DA team.

Bolded 1. Mind clarifying for me on how Blood magic is newly "evilized" in the World of Thedas? I do not have the book, so I would appreciate this info.

Bolded 2. Or perhaps we might be overthinking this.

Ad (1): WoT I, sidebar on page 199:
"The more violent the pain or death used in blood magic, the more powerful a spell becomes"
"Mages who experiment with blood magic are more susceptible to demonic spirits".

Ad (2):
It's not overthinking if you point out an obvious consequence.

I think she said templars who are out for your head. She used the contraction "who're".

"templars off of you who're out of your head." How does that work exactly?

Need to edit again.

But yes, what seems like your Freudian slip - is an apt assessment.

If the Chantry can use religion to mind control people to think like they do then blood mages have every right to use magic for the same reason.

Ok, we need to draw a line there. Using religion to influence people is a whole different ball game from using blood magic to literally steer peoples thoughts. One doesn't justify the other.

Religion brainwashes people all the time. Does Jim jones ring a bell to you? The Chantry actually convinces the public that mages caused the blight to happen, and that they convinced people that what they do to the mages are jusitifiable act, and that it is for the safety of everyone.

The Chantry are masters of social engineering, and for that reason alone they're no better than blood mages.

How can the Templars be out of my head?  Shouldn't they be out of their heads?  (or minds - which is the common colloqualism)

Or are they "out FOR my head?"

Her sentence was, "And a little pain is nothing if it gets templars off you who're out for your head." She used the contraction "who're" that represents who are. So the sentence reads, "And a little pain is nothing it gets templars off, who are out for your head." Perhaps a little awkward grammar, but it's still understandable.

While I'll never know for sure - I'm fairly certain the "for" wasn't there before.

Or, I just ignored it assuming she was telling me I'm out of my head... which, isn't a completely inaccurate statement.

Anywho - back to ripping on Alistair in the other thread.

That's one bold affirmation that I think it's a little abstract and might not express your true intent.

If you are saying that sometimes, through history, there are some individuals that get a little overzelous and fanatical to the point where they become a danger for others, for themselves and they can be used as puppets by a higher ranked individual then I agree.

If you throw every single religious person in the same bucket with those examples I can't agree under no circumstance.

Every group has its share of nutjobs and it's in the human nature to try to transform everything in a tool that gives them an advantage over their neighbors and empowers them over the others; be it science, religion or everything you can think of.

@Lord Raijin: I feel I need to remind you that generalization is bad. I'm only saying it because I was just informed myself.

Yes and no. Generalizations help us to easier comunicate by shortening our word usage. Also, they can be used to depict how a majority tends to act.

Still, in some situations it can be bad because by generalising you can send another message than the one you intended and it can cause confusion and the need of an eventual clarification...or it could simply make some people go berserk because reasons.

EDIT

Am I the only that thinks our avatar match-up is funny ? You don't see everyday a fox and a chicken that are having philosophical discussions.

You are so lucky I have an exam to study for right now, or I would tear apart your foolish mundane ass where you stand. WITH blood magic.

You people really don't see the difference between forcing a person through magic to obey your will and literally boil their blood inside of them, and someone using religion to sway people?

I don't think a religion, no matter hoe powerful, can mske a person obey them without physically doing anything to them. Blood magic can.

Hah. Good luck firing off a Mana Clash before I boil your blood or make you commit suicide!

Edit: Thanks. I am gonna have to pray a dozen rosaries before I take it.

Nice would be a world without fringe members. We live in a generalized world run by generals where general threads run the general day to day generally.

Forget blood magic I'd just throw a few lightning bolts at him... that'll teach him not to mess with us.
